Great atmosphere with cool interior design. Multiple floors for seating options. Great cuban dishes and amazing desserts. Try the chocolate de bombe.

“Excellent find in Center City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Found myself alone in Philly for a conference and Alma de Cuba was the best Trip Adviser restaurant near my hotel. I had the Empanatas appetizer and the Cuban skirt steak . I am not in anyway an expert on Cuban food, but this food was spectacular. The appetizer had wonderful spinach filling. The skirt steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly - could be cut/ pull with just a fork. The black beans, rice, and sweet-spicy salsa served with the steak pulled the dish together into Caribbean masterpiece.

Expensive. $51 for one person, service adequate. But go there for the food you won't be disappointed

I remembered the restaurant from a couple of years ago and returned. It did not disappoint. The selection of ceviches is both large and incredibly delicious. The taco appetizer was super entrees were fantastic. Service is great. Can't ask for much more.

“A real privilege to dine here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Right from the start I was impressed with the fact the ENTIRE staff - roles and names - are listed on the front page of the menu. What an exceptional level of professionalism by the owners and managers. Our table consisted of all business owners and we very much appreciated the people first attitude.

The waiter was well informed on the menu and he admitted it was only his second week (again nod to the management). Alma de Cuba features several specialized drinks and we sampled them all at our table. The ceviche was well prepared and flavorful without killing the taste of various seafoods. I ordered the Vaca Frita, which was mentioned as their house specialty. It was very good, but it wasn't exceptional. And the table split a "cigar dessert" which is also a house specialty.

The restaurant was full of custom foods and that combined with the excellent ambiance, the well trained and personable staff, and the obvious attention to detail by the management is what rates my 5-star review. You can not go wrong here.
