I've been to this restaurant twice and both times I've been pleasantly surprised! This restaurant is located on a small side street off of South Street. There is a sign that you really can't see but you know to look for a colorful door. There is no parking on the street so that is a premium in this Philadelphia neighborhood. You ring the doorbell and wait for someone to open the door to greet you. If you have to wait for seating, you wait outside on the street. One member of our party was using a cane. During our wait, the host, who answered the door, left the restaurant only to appear with a chair for my party member! It is a small restaurant with many floors, so reservations are a must! The decor is pleasing and comfortable, with banquette seating and numerous pillows, no chairs. Each area has round coffee tables where the food is served. If you want to try Moroccan food this is the place to get a great delicious sampling of vegetables, couscous, beef, lamb chicken, etc. We were served 6 courses for a flat fee of $25 per person, plus tax and gratuity. You can bring your own wine or beer with no corkage fee! The server brings large bath towels for you to place on your lap and use as napkins. Then rosewater is brought over for you to wash your hands. The courses begin with unlimited pita bread to use in place of utensils. And if that's not enough, a belly dancer comes out to show you how to belly dance! It is a fun evening for a group of friends or family.

Came here for dinner and was told they have a 7 course meal. But I was not that hungry so they offered me a 4-course dinner for half price which was very nice of them. Food was great accompanied by nice chardonnay. Although I was on a solo trip to Philadelphia, this is a very nice place to visit in a group. Will definitely return on my next trip to the city.

A group of friends and I decided to try something different and venture to the Marrakesh for dinner. Our party had twelve and they were able to accommodate us with no problem. The restaurant works on two seattings for larger groups: early (6:30) and later (9:00). The staff does a great job giving you the full experience with explanations and lively service. Though vegetarians may be inclined to shy away from Moroccan food, the staff has alternate dishes to serve at the same time as the main courses.

The price is well worth the quality of food and feel this is a great night out for a group of people. The restaurant is a BYOB so you can bring a bottle of your choosing. I have no serious complaint and overall had a wonderful time. The only thing that did slightly bother me was after the dessert was served we were hurried out to make way for the next group. I do understand there is limited space, but I feel that they could have handles the timing better.

This place is amazing , Marrakesh is an authentic Moroccan restaurant. The food here is great and the servers are very friendly. Make sure to bring plenty of room for all seven courses. This is definitely not a place to go if you're in a hurry, so make sure to set aside the evening and take the time to soak in the experience! Bring cash, they don't take credit cards, and give yourself plenty of time to find a parking spot in the BUSY South St. area. The ambiance and decor felt like being in a restaurant in Morocco. Since the space is limited, please make sure to make a reservation.

So, we went here for a birthday party. The service is excellent, they are on it. The portions are HUGE, go hungry, don't fill up on the bread and first courses, even though the eggplant was ridiculously good. I found it a little odd they lock the door (re fire hazard) but it was a good fun experience, and its not too pricey. It is BYOB and cash only, cool motif inside as well.
