Visited for Sunday breakfast--early enough to avoid a crowd that was forming by time we were finished. First I'd been in a few years. Food was excellent as I remember it and the place seemed not to have changed all that much, which is a good thing. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Diner has history. Presidential candidates including JFK have made stops there. Personally, it is a throwback to the old neighborhood I grew up in. My high school has been torn down, but Mayfair Diner survives. The fact it's largely the same allows you to recall memories, in my case eating there with my mother who's been gone six years. Several other local diners-Satellite, Torresdale--are long gone; but fortunately Mayfair carries on. Visit. You won't be disappointed.
