“Good food and great value”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

The Mayfair diner is a venerable Philadelphia institution which serves good food at reasonable prices. They are also BYOB -- something that many people may not know. It is not a place for atmosphere -- after all, it's an old fashioned, very well lit diner. However, if you bring a bottle of wine and want to have a good meal and nice conversation, they leave you alone and let you do so. I heartily recommend it!

“Good as always”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Visited for Sunday breakfast--early enough to avoid a crowd that was forming by time we were finished. First I'd been in a few years. Food was excellent as I remember it and the place seemed not to have changed all that much, which is a good thing. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Diner has history. Presidential candidates including JFK have made stops there. Personally, it is a throwback to the old neighborhood I grew up in. My high school has been torn down, but Mayfair Diner survives. The fact it's largely the same allows you to recall memories, in my case eating there with my mother who's been gone six years. Several other local diners-Satellite, Torresdale--are long gone; but fortunately Mayfair carries on. Visit. You won't be disappointed.
