“Great place to stay in Philly”
Reviewed 21 May 2008

My new husband and I stayed at the Bella Vista for 2 nights during our honeymoon. It was in a great location and close to a lot of really great restaurants (Dante & Luigi's is at the end of the block and South Street is very close by). We stayed in the Magnolia suite which was nice- it had it's own bathroom, kitchen, living room area with a hide-a-bed couch for 1 or 2, and a really comfy bed. There were only a couple of things that we weren't fans of, one being the really bad coffee in the cupboard and the other being the fact that we didn't see our hosts at all after we got brought up to our room the first day. Other than that it was cheap, clean, and close to everything!

Great location, walking distance to almost everything. Unfortunately, we were told the towels would be changed every other day, but we had a five day stay, and no change of towels. We shared a bathroom, but there was no place to put your toiletries or hook for the bath towel. A caddy for the occupants would be a welcome plus. No light over the vanity mirror, we had to supply. Television in room way too small, and not conveniently located for viewing. Shared kitchen with do-it-yourself breakfast was nice, but the coffee was old/stale, and fruit was only bananas. Overall an economical way to be in Philadelphia, but could use increased customer service and some freshening up.

I just returned from a wonderful few days in Philadelphia which was made all the more special by the Philadelphia Bella Vista Bed and Breakfast house where I stayed. Everything was exceptionally clean, tidy and comfortable. The decor was an eclectic mix of antique furnishings and decorative objects and works of art. The self-serve breakfast meant I could get up whenever I wanted and choose from cereal, fruit, muffins, waffles and more, as well as make myself a full pot of coffee or tea. I could also have a little snack later in the day if I wanted to. It became my home-away-from-home for the period of my visit. And, I was able to walk all around the south side, historical district and Italian market area without any trouble at all. The room had useful guide books and pamphlets to help me with ideas of where to go, what to see, and where to eat. All in all, a great experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This was my first trip to Philly for sightseeing, picked the Bella Vista on line and it was a woderful experience. Dan and Barbara are great hosts, our room was decorated beautiful and quite cozy. We had a refrigerator stocked with homemade muffins, milk, juices, waffles, pancakes, and many more treats. We were within walking distance of The Itailian Market (where Rocky ran thru the streets) where we enjoyed excellent food and of course a Philly cheesesteak. A short distance from the major attractions. I will definitely reccomend the Bella Vista and if I return to the area I will stay here again.

The location was great, just a few blocks off south street. Good neighborhood, very close to many restaurants, shops, and most importantly the Italian Market. The hosts were very nice, they allowed us to use their family pass for one of the museums, which saved us over $40. Yes there is no traditional breakfast served, but you are in Philly and there is PLENTY to eat in this city. We found parking pretty easy since it was the weekend. We stayed in the City View Room, which was nice, clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The shared a kitchen had a full size fridge to keep wine and other goodies cold. They provided bottled water and light snacks. There also was a stove an microwave to cook things. We will definitely return, and bring our friends the next time. If you are looking for a good place to stay that is close to many of the “City Center” attractions, then you should be happy.

We just returned from our first trip to Philadelphia. Bella Vista Bed and Breakfast was wonderful all the way around. The owners were accomodating, genuine, helpful and very nice. The room was clean, beautifully decorated in a colonial/antique motif and was well stocked with lots of goodies to eat. The fireplace added a special touch on the couple of cold nights we experienced while we were there. It was in a great location and within walking distance to the Italian Market , with excellent restaurants and bakeries and other major attractions. I would highly recommend Bella Vista and would definately return to stay there the next time I plan a trip to Philly. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
