Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel

I stayed two nights at the Independence Park Hotel. The main factor for choosing it was the location. It is close to the subway station (Market-Frankford Line, stop at 2nd Street), which makes it easy to travel from and to the airport (the combination of airport train and subway makes it easy and cheap to make the travel between airport and hotel). It is also near the historic district (Independence Hall and Bell of Liberty being the top attractions). You can easily spend a day walking that historic district and it is very convenient that you can go by the hotel for a short break. The hotel is also on walking distance from the waterfront, where you can take a ferry to Camden (every hour on the hour, 7 dollars). Note that Camden has not much to offer wrt sightseeing, but the view on Philadelphia City from that site of the Delaware river is quite nice. Finally, the hotel is also close to stop "2" of the Phlash route, which makes it easy and cheap to make the trip to the city centre, all the way up to the museum area.

The hotel is good and clean. Rooms are rather basic (very high ceiling, but not that big), nice bathroom, standard tv. I did not have street view (you will probably have to pay more for that), but that didn't disturb me since I was mainly there for sightseeing outside the hotel. The complimentary breakfast is very basic (toast, cornflakes, fruit, coffee, juice), which you can "upgrade" to eggs and some other stuff for 5 dollar (+ tax).

Service and staff were very good. Nice thing: around 4 PM you can have some free drink and cookie in the hotel lobby.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our two young boys. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we would enjoy our stay. The staff at reception were lovely. the parking was super easy and there were many personal touches that made this hotel memorable.

the boys enjoyed playing the old chess game in the lobby, and the cookies in the afternoon. we loved the liberty bell waffles and were impressed with the breakfast overall. our room was spacious with high ceilings and lovely decor.

The location of the hotel was ideal....... enabling us to walk everywhere. We loved Philadelphia as well, and the next time we visit we will definitely book this hotel again!

Room Tip: our room was at the front of the hotel and it was quiet noisy on Saturday night outside on the stree...

My husband and I stayed at The Independence Park Hotel July 23-24th. Thank goodness we were able to check in early, around 1:00 pm because it was 100 degrees outside and we were ready for some a/c after walking around South Street and Society Hill. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to historic attractions, Septa station (we went to a Philly's game), and restaurants. At night, Chestnut Street is lively with all the bars. We dined and drank good beer at Triumph Brewing Company, a couple of blocks up the road. We had a great time and would definitely go back! The only thing I will do differently is make sure my husband doesn't wear flip flops because he tripped leaving the hotel and broke a bone in his foot! Poor guy had to hobble around Reading Terminal Market so I could buy some cookies.

The location was perfect for walking to Independence Hall and restaurants. Parking close by was very convenient. We appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Also, wine and cheese in the lobby was a nice touch and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with other hotel guests.

I stayed there three nights for a conference, and then wanted to extend the stay another night, which I paid in advance. I asked on our last business day if we could stay in the same room, and was told, no problem. Then, when we went down to give a credit card, I was told we had to move! I found the desk person to be abrupt, and borderline rude; she was complaining to us when we checked in that so many people wanted to check in early. This was at 3:00pm when the check in is 4:00, which I think is rather late.
The room was clean, the tub was chipped, and the tub drain ran slowly.

The people working there made sure our stay was wonderful. When the fridge broke they took all our food and kept it cool in their fridge and then when we wanted they brought it up like a feast had been prepared instead of our leftovers!"

This hotel was recommended by my inlaws, and boy were they right. Even though the room was very small for our family of four, with the high ceilings and unique decor it was great for a night!
The hotel really seems more like a B&B, and has the feel of the history of the area.
We could walk to just about everything.
Just wish the staff was a bit more helpful. They really just did not seem to want to be bothered by us.
Oh, and don't miss the sign at the "hot" breakfast, it is easy to miss. If you actually want something hot like eggs, there is an upcharge. Would have been nice to have had that better explained than embarassing basically every guest who misses the sign, which was just about everyone.
All in all a great place, and we would stay again when visiting Philly.

Room Tip: The second floor is nice, you can use the main staircase
