Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel
Ranked #2 of 89 Hotels in Philadelphia
Certificate of Excellence

From arrival until departure, the service and amenities at the Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel were first rate! Notable, were the thick and absorbent towels. The self-serve breakfast offerings are diverse and abundant, surely enough to get the day started. The hotel is charming and its location is perfect for exploring Old Philly. Serendipitously, we discovered Amada, an exceptional Spanish tapas restaurant, just 2 doors away. The dinners we had there were extraordinary! The only reason I rated "Rooms" Very Good (vs excellent) is because ours seemed a bit tight -- a minor minus, given all the pluses. If you're there on a Wednesday, be sure to join other guests at the Manager's late afternoon Wine & Cheese, in the lobby.

Room Tip: We stayed in 504, a room with a double bed. Quiet, around the corner from the silent elevator, and n...

I just returned from spending a night at the BW Independence Park Hotel on my way to Capy May. The staff was wonderful, warm and accommodating from the time I entered the lobby until check out and even stored my luggage so that I was able to spend more time in Philadelphia. I love the charm of historic homes and hotels and Philadelphia is the perfect setting. The hotel is within easy walking distance to all the historic sites I wanted to visit. My room had just been redecorated and was lovely and comfortable!

Room Tip: The room on Chestmut Street had a nice view of the street but, on a Saturday night, it was a bit row...

The bad news is very short -- the air conditioning is loud but the good news is long. The hotel is a charming boutique-style oasis in the heart of Phillie. With a AAA vacation we had a lovely welcome gift, breakfast, tea-time cookies, & parking included at a reasonable price. The staff are charming, friendly, and provide great recommendations on sightseeing and local restaurants. It is walking distance to Independence Hall, city-wide tour buses, lovely historic neighborhoods, and affordable clubs and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for queen size beds rather than doubles. They go fast, so ask when you book the room.

The price is probably fair for the area. We were meeting others so the Hotel was decided for us and I didn't shop around. The room is fairly small (basically just enough room for the bed and a wardrobe holding the TV -- although we did squeeze a roll away in as well), though that may be the norm for the area as well. The bathroom was standard (not too small at all).

We were able to walk to just about everything which was great. And the staff was absolutely wonderful. Every person working at the desk was gracious, cheerful, and helpful. The free breakfast was solid and helps make the cost a little more reasonable.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, although I may shop around next time. If the price is comparable though, definitely feel comfortable booking here.

This was a lovely little hotel in just the best location. It is near everything a visitor would want including convenient public transportaton. The decor is charming and there are nice touches everywhere; ie: tea and cookies, fruit, computer work area, chess in front of the fireplace in the lobby. It has a pretty courtyard for breakfast. The room we stayed in was very pretty, not large, but large enough for the very comfortable queen bed. The bathroom was modern and spacious and also quite pretty. This was a very charming hotel with helplful and friendly staff. We enjoyed our weekend and would, and have, recommend this hotel.

We had a most pleasant night's stay at the BW Independence Park Hotel. We were greeted courteously at the front desk and enjoyed the afternoon tea and cookies with other guests of the hotel. Our room was furnished nicely and was cozy and the bathroom was updated. The breakfast was very good. We especially enjoyed making the waffles. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again at this hotel. We were able to walk to every attraction and neighborhood of interest. The location was excellent. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated graciously, likes to stay in a location steeped in history and enjoys the value of being in the heart of the action.

This was the first time my family had ever visited Philadelphia, so we naturally wanted to stay in a good location in a hotel that had a good reputation. We arrived later than we expected, mainly due to a lot of traffic delays (we got in around 10pm). The front desk staff seemed fine, not too friendly, not exactly rude, but we were too tired to think much of it. The lobby seemed to be nicely decorated, so we were sorely disappointed when we walked through the door to our room. There was dust in all of the corners on the carpet, which was coming loose from the walls. One of the lights in the bathroom was blown out (did housekeeping really not notice that?!). Our toilet had two pubic hairs as well. When we turned down the sheets, there were crumbs in the bed! The guy working the front desk came up and changed our sheets himself, because he there weren't any housekeeping staff on duty--it was only 11:30pm! Then, we went to park the car in the garage, which cost nearly $20, a fee no one told us about when we made the reservations. After we had parked the car were leaving the garage, a fight broke out among four people (meaning we ran like the dickens out of there). Just outside, there were three prostitutes soliciting everyone walking past. We didn't get much sleep at all because of the loud street noise. Our room was also right next to the elevator, so we heard drunk people coming in throughout the night. Breakfast was decent, but nothing to really write about: Scrambled eggs, sausage links, make-your-own waffles, fruit, and breads/cereals. When the front desk manager was told all of this the next morning, she was quite rude and said that they had already taken $20 off the bill for the unclean beds so we shouldn't expect any other type of compensation. This was an affront to my family, as we were not asking for a cheaper bill (although the value of this hotel is NOT what they charge). I would never stay here again, even if they marked it down by half!

Dear TravisA

Thank you for posting your review on TripAdvisor, even if this is not one I am very proud of.

I apologize for the housekeeping matter as well as the less than stellar level of service you received the following morning from our desk clerk. These matters are not at all indicative of how we treat our guests, so again accept my apologies.

Please rest assured that corrective action has already been taken and neither the housekeeper nor the front desk agent you mentioned work for me any longer. Unfortunately, we let your family down and I am sorry.

I do hope that you enjoyed your visit to Philadelphia and that you will consider the Independence Park Hotel in the future.
