The rooms are small but I like that. Nice and clean. The staff is extremely helpful.
This hotel is a perfect location for a tourist! Everything historical is within walking distance.
I would suggest it to anyone visiting the area.

What a lovely hotel in the middle of the old city center. You are walking distance to all of the main attractions. But the real "five stars" in this hotel are its people: Julian (Manager at the front desk) and Suzanne (Manager) went above and beyond to satisfy all of our needs and answer all of our questions. I even asked them to split our final bill (I was traveling with my sister and my niece who had just returned from Spain) so that I could pay for one night and Julian made this absolutely no problem. Suzanne's recommendations for restaurants were exactly what we were looking for in both a lunch place and casual dinner place. The breakfast room is delightful and all of the staff were extra-friendly. This is one of those reviews that you kind of hate to write because this place is so special, you only want special people to know about it! If you're looking for a new, modern hotel with huge spacious rooms, this is not it. But if you want to stay in an historic building, in the center of all of the other historic treasures of Philadelphia, this is the place!

Dear Mary M,

I am so glad to read that you and your sister had a great time staying at the Best Western Independence Park Hotel. Thanks for posting your review and telling the world about our historic Inn.

You titled your review, Above and Beyond, which is such a wonderful thing to write about our staff and your stay. I will certainly share your comments with our hospitality team.

And while there are bigger, more modern hotels in Philadelphia, your comment here says it all..".if you want to stay in an historic building, in the center of all of the other historic treasures of Philadelphia, this is the place!

Wow, we appreciate your business and gracious words...and for using TripAdvisor as well.

THANKS

JM

This quaint and comfy hotel is truly a gem! The location is perfect- right in the center of the historic district. We were able to easily walk to all historic sites and attractions. Also, it is close to many restaurants and neighborhood pubs. Another plus it is very clean and quiet. Additionally, the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. They suggested places to eat, happily gave directions, and always wore smiles. The custodian even helped us with our bags and refused a tip! I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it.

You cannot beat the location! You are within walking distance of most of the attractions; great resturants within the block; and very close to the Delaware River.
We walked three to four blocks to find pretty much everything we needed, and the Liberty Bell is literaly less than 5 blocks and you can catch one of the hop on hop off tour buses to get to almost all of the attractions.
The staff at the hotel were helpful, polite, and attentive.
The only drawback is the hotel room size, but recognizing you are in a historic building in an excellent location.....it is well worth the trade.

Room Tip: No pool or fitness center

This hotel was in the perfect spot for seeing all the historical buildings, Ben Franklin's grave, the Liberty Bell, etc. The staff was fantastic, they told us how to get to everything we wanted to see, which was all within walking distance from the hotel. They also told us about a number of great places to eat. We selected Amada, which was on the same street about 1/2 block away from the hotel. It was great if you love Tapas. We are planning another trip back to Philly and we will stay at the Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel. the breakfast was wonderful and having fresh, cold lemon water always available was a treat. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

If you are going to be walking this is a great location. We were without a car for 2 days and this location was great. Was like 5 minute walk to Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The room was nice, I see people complaining the rooms are small, but this is not a new building , it is a historic building and you just can't make a room bigger. But I think those are complainers, the room was big enough there was a small table and chair to write on or put your laptop on. The beds were fantastic and so comfortable, the AC was cold and the shower was fine. There was a mini fridge in the cabinet nightstand and a closet that we fit a big suitcase in. So if you are looking for a couch suite maybe this is not for you but the room was comfortable and the beds were great and really isn't the bed the most important part of the room anyways. Breakfast was good, and the staff was very friendly all hours of the night and day shifts. Cookies at 4:00 nice to enjoy.
There is parking in a garage down the street, go to hotel first to get the pass, not much room to park on street because of loading area and crowded thin street, so one person may need to hop out and check in while other person may have to circle! Be careful the sidewalks in Philly full of cracks and uneven pavement I would not recommend wearing flip flops, people also tend to walk their dogs and let them tinkle on the street so that puddle you step in might not be rain, Not the hotels issue but just a warning! I would though highly recommend this hotel to stay in. The room was quiet and the street was not busy in the evening so there was not a lot of noise after 6 pm.

Located in the historic district, this hotel has a fabulous location to just about everything. I would describe the room as cozy...but not in a bad way. Although not the normal spacious cookie cutter hotel room, this room was charming. Very quiet inside room without any noticeable road noise. Hotel staff was excellent..
