“Best Romantic Getaway in Philly!”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

We love the Rittenhouse Hotel! Not only is the location spectacular for dining, shopping, people and dog-watching in the park, but it's lovely rooms and special guest amenities make it the perfect romantic getaway. The staff is very accommodating and one of their special touches is complimentary champagne, cookies and chocolate-covered strawberries each afternoon. Try the Mary Cassat for a relaxing, indulgent afternoon tea and Lacroix for happy hour or their spectacular Sunday brunch is a must. Try the Rittenhouse once and it will become your favorite Philly hotel, too!

Room Tip: Our favorite is a deluxe king room overlooking Rittenhouse Square.

I would have loved to give a good review. Overall, it was a beautiful large room, and kitchen (unexpected ) Clean and Nice bed. People were friendly - they offered a Nespresso machine free of charge, and I said YES, but it never arrived. ALSO, the bathroom was tiny. It was designed in the 1980's I'm sure and was smaller than bathrooms I've had at Hampton inn's and Holiday Inns. It was sad. For such a large apartment size suite, I can't believe I had to stop drying my hair, and leave the bathroom, so that my husband could enter and get into the shower. This was not possible unless he wanted to squeeze by me, and hurdle the toilet to get in..... A SLIDING DOOR SHOWER AND BATHTUB COMBO!!!!!!!! I mean when I seen that, I thought, youve got to be kidding me. Not to mention we arrived at 5pm and were told the GYM and POOL was CLOSED for the night already. 5pm??? how is this a 5 star hotel???

Great Potential to be Four Seasons quality - but I can't believe I booked a room with large marble bath, and got a 1980's toilet. Too bad, room was enormous and had potential.

Room Tip: Ask for a Modern Bathroom - they look like they have done renovations in some.

We are delighted that you found the staff to be friendly, but concerned that you did not enjoy the bathroom. Please accept my apologies, and I will be sure to make a notation, that, on your next visit, we will have a luxury suite available, with a very large bathroom.

My boyfriend and I were just staying one night, but wished we were staying longer. The hotel staff was unbelievably professional, courteous and welcoming. From the minute you pull up to the valet, it is first class service all the way. The housekeeping staff does an amazing job making you feel so comfortable and well taken care of while you are there. Every employee that we came into contact with said hello or smiled. Front desk and concierge staff were extremely helpful and ready to assist in any way possible. I will absolutely stay at the Rittenhouse again!

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed and luxurious. The beds are very comfortable and you have a choice of pillows. Room service was quick and the restaurants in the hotel are excellent. The service is what you would expect from a major five star hotel. The location is pefect for shopping, dining, theater and hospital visits. I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and had to be at the hospital at 5:30 for a procedure. It was so easy to just get a cab and go five minutes to the hospital. The hotel is on beautiful Rittenhouse Square and our room had a magnificent view. The hotel also offers one of the best afternoon tea services in the city.

Room Tip: get a room with a view of Rittenhouse Square

From the minute the front door is opened for you to the valet opening your car door as you leave you are treated to one of the finest hotels anywhere. Great, large rooms, a great restaurant, Lacroix, superb service at every turn and an incredibly friendly staff. The Rittenhouse is rated as one of the top hotels in the world and it is easy to see why.

Room Tip: A room facing the park is best

We had the pleasure of spending a few days in February with two children. The room was one of the larger rooms we have stayed in - with seating area, desk area, dressing area and extra large bathroom. It worked perfectly for our family of four The hotel is very high end yet caters wonderfully to children. A welcome present, milk and cookies at turn down, child size robes and slippers and the indoor pool made our kids feel right at home. We ate breakfast at lacroix each morning and despite the elegant surroundings, it was kid friendly. When our child's breakfast was not quite to her liking, they immediately remade it for us. Breakfast choices were plentiful and everthing fresh and delicious. The concierge was very helpful and recommended some nice places to eat. We ate at Parc and Devon both on the square. Devon had a great children's menu. The doormen were lovely especially Joe who my kids knew by name! The location is the best in town near good shopping, restaurants and only about 15 minute walk from attractions like Franklin Institue (another big hit!). We did a double decker bus tour which hit all the major sites and helped give us the "lay of the land". Room service was fantastic- any call was responded to in less than 5 minutes. A great place to stay in Phili with kids--you get the high end surroundings and service.

Went once again for a relaxing overnight stay with my wife.

Very nice rooms (better than the Four Seasons), superb staff and service and a number of little thoughtful touches that make this the best room in town at prices that generally are lower than the Four Seasons. Great bath products.

The only place that does not quite measure up as the best in town is LaCroix. While it is certainly a nice place to eat, it does not compare to the Fountain at the Four Seasons, but it is not quite as pricey either. If a Fountain level restaurant were in this hotel, the place would be packed every night!
