We took our 5 year old grandson to the Turtle Back Zoo, and both he and we enjoyed the visit. This is the perfect place for kids to run around: small enough for them to run free, big enough that they're not bored. Plan a 3 to 4 hour adventure to keep kids interested. My grandson's favorite was the petting area followed by the sea lions. The railroad was free, but he wasn't too interested. The zoo is very clean and well kept. There is a bit of walking, and slightly hilly, but nothing unmanageable. There are benches all over: anyone in reasonable shape will have no problem. There is a Cafe with a decent selection, a bit pricey, but not terrible, and, we agreed, better quality than many such facilities. There are a number of picnic areas that are sheltered to sit and bring your lunch. Parking is free, and there is a free shuttle to remote parking areas. The only disappointment was we thought the bathrooms could use some attention.

Took my kids ages 11 & 9 to the Turtle Back Zoo we go every summer to feed the birds and check out the animals it is a lovely little zoo. This year we added the Junior Tree Top Adventure and I have to say it was awesome! IMO it had the right balance of challenge and ease. When everyone is tall enough (next year) we will try the adult course and that will truly be a challenge. THis course took us about 40 minutes and we all loved it.

I liked this zoo alot because it was small and easy to navigate. Some areas are narrow, so our big double stroller was a hassle at times. There is also older kid fun, ziplining and tree top climbing. Petting zoo. Next door is a mini golf course and a restaurant on the lake with a beautiful view. The zoo itself has alot of variety, better to go early in the morning before the crowds come in...plus the animals were more active at that time. Parking is free, and if you have to park at one of their back up lots...free shuttle is provided to get you to zoo door.

What a wonderful zoo! Have not been in about 20 years, wow how it has changed. This is really a top notch zoo, excellent variety of animals, great viewing spaces. Nice and spread out, did not feel crowded and we were there on a sunday afternoon. Lots of hills and its sunny, so wear your good walking shoes and bring the sunscreen! Food was good, but you can also ring your own. Definitely recommend visiting, i know we will visit again.

This zoo has been improved so much recently. The carousel and improved eating area is great. The animal pens are clean and the layout is manageable. My kids still like the petting zoo area and pony rides. It is best to get there early in the day so you can catch some of the feedings. Pick up a schedule of daily events. Check out the reptile house, my kids personal fave. The train ride is also a big hit!
