“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2011

The Gaslight Inn is located two blocks from the main square at Gettysburg, Pa.
The location is wonderful as were the owners. The place is lovely. When I was there is was decorated for the Christmas season. The owners prepared and served a delish breakfast each morning and were very friendly. Our room was the Violet - small - but very nice and super clean. The entire town was friendly. I would return.

The Gaslight Inn is beautiful place to stay... we honestly could not have asked for more. We decided to take a last minute weekend trip away for our anniversary and after doing some homework... we decided to try the Gaslight Inn. We had never been to Gettysburg before for the weekend and although we were concerned about the last minute plans we were so happy at what was waiting for us!

Mike and Becky were wonderful hosts!! I also spoke to Elizabeth to make the reservation and she made things so easy. The Inn felt like you were going to visit a relative's house. It felt lived in (but not worn out) and warm. The grounds were gorgeous and after checking in Mike showed us our room and we quickly got into a conversation about our plans for the weekend. He gave us restaurant suggestions, information for parking and ghost tours and was open to answering any and all of our questions.

Because we booked last minute (we got the last room) we stayed in the Violet Room. I was happy that we still had our own private bathroom and the room size was surprisingly spacious and super clean. The house has an open patio on the ground floor but is also adorned with long balconies on the back of the house. Mike and Becky have three dogs... all of which were friendly and very welcoming.

Breakfast was also delicious! Becky and Mike served us a creme brulee french toast and it was great to visit with others and talk about our trips. Mike sat down with us at breakfast to help us plan out our day. He's full of information and passion about Gettysburg!

The Gaslight Inn is located off of one of the main roads in Gettysburg, Baltimore Street. If you walked out of the Inn and north on Baltimore St, the downtown square is just a few blocks away. This was awesome because we walked everywhere! The walk that you take out of the Inn to the square was lined with antique shops, cafes and restaurants.

We did two ghost tours (I guess we just couldn't get enough).. one with the Ghosts of Gettysburg and one at the Farnsworth House. Both spots for those ghosts tours were south on Baltimore St (around 5 blocks). The Farnsworth House ghost tour was great because we started off in the attic of the house and could really get a feel for the what it was like back during the Civil War. I would suggest doing this one if you're interested.

We plan on going back to visit Mike and Becky at the Gaslight Inn.. especially because I want to try one of the rooms with the jacuzzi tubs. Just a point of information... another couple stayed in the Clover room (with a jacuzzi tub) and they warned us that there is no shower, just the tub... so be ready to relaaaxxx.

It was a great weekend away and although I slept with the TV on (I couldn't shake the ghost stories)... the Gaslight Inn was wonderful! :)

I have been coming to this bed and breakfast and never been disappointed. The rooms are wonderful, the service great and the food wonderful. I always feel at home here. Close to many resturants and stores, as well. I will be back

First, if you go be sure to get a room away from Middle Street; we stayed in a front room (Heather) and although premium priced the traffic noise was pretty intense.
The b&b has a nice location, nice common rooms, ok parking, fast internet, some nice touches like gas-log fireplaces in premium rooms. On the downside, the physical plant was more worn and tarnished than most -- e.g. doors that didn't close and stains in the shower/spa -- and the guest and common rooms were festooned with more homemade "though shalt not" signs than we had ever seen anywhere. (E.g., "don't use the white washclothes to remove make-up). Lastly, they had a single breakfast seating at 9:00am.

We thank this couple for their observations. We take all feedback seriously, and sincerely regret that we did not meet their expectations.

Because we are very close to the center of Gettysburg, during the week (which is when this couple stayed), East Middle St. can be noisy in the morning. We are a very busy small city and cities during the week are noisy with citizens going to work.

The stain in the shower is from steam because this is a “spa” shower, which means one or two people can take a 20-minute steam bath. The area in the shower that is stained is where the steam comes out. No amount of soft-scrub-type cleanser will remove it. We have certainly tried.

There are two signs in Heather Room – “No Smoking” requesting guests to smoke outside on the porches and another in the bathroom requesting female guests to use the dark washcloth to remove makeup. These are not unreasonable requests of our guests. No smoking signs are throughout the Inn.

Lastly, when the Inn is not full, we serve breakfast at 9 a.m. This usually occurs during the week. While we are not always successful, we ask our guests to let us know if they have made early plans for tours, special visits, etc. When we are caught by surprise as we were in this case, we offer an early continental breakfast. On weekends and whenever the Inn is full, breakfast is served at 8:30 and 9:45.

From the minute we arrived we were in awe of the warmth and comfort at the Gaslight .
The room was beautiful! The bed was just heaven and that shower with the steam!
Breakfast each morning was spectacular! Our host and hostess were just so warm and friendly. They gave us very accurate detailed directions and suggestions! Very knowledgable about their area! We all felt like we had known them forever instead of just meeting that weekend!

Love the location of this Inn! Just a block from the town square full of shops, two story antique mall, restaurants, pubs and historical buildings. We were on the third floor and it was quiet. Had a large room with two loveseats and fireplace. Balcony seating overlooks pretty garden. Lively discussion at the breakfast table from guests around the world. Tea and cookies in the evening. Would come back again!
