My husband and I spent two nights at Lightner Farmhouse last week. We were visiting Gettysburg National Park for the first time. The location of the Farmhouse couldn't be better. Very convenient to both the Park and the downtown area. The owners were warm and welcoming and very helpful. Our room (the Maple room) was quiet and comfortable. Delicious breakfasts. We look forward to returning for another stay at the Farmhouse.

We spent one night at Lightner Farmhouse recently. We really enjoyed the beautiful home and grounds. The owners took us through the house and gave us a brief history which was really interesting. We hiked out behind their house to the brook, which was very nice. Breakfast was delicious. I would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Room Tip: The Birch Room is small, but was perfect for one night. If I were staying longer, I might want one o...

My wife and I decided to visit Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Never having stayed at a Bed & Breakfast before, we had no idea what to expect. I never told my wife that I booked the Lightner B&B, she was so shocked when I pulled into the drive way. We were greeted by their son Jay who invited us in and gave us a tour and some history of the home. Right away we fell in love with the place. Eileen and Dennis came over, greeted us and gave us more history and WOW. Right from the start we felt right at home. We stayed in the Pines suite at the very top, what a extraordinary room. It was so peaceful and wonderful, We also had a Paranormal tour with Betty who took us to the Sach's Covered Bridge, That was a very exciting experience. Betty also gave us a DVD of the pictures that she took and there were spirits all around us in the photos. Thank you Betty. Staying at the Lightner Farmhouse gives you the feeling of stepping back in time and almost like your part of the Civil War. When we visit Gettysburg again The Lightner Farmhouse will always be our home.

We were greeted warmly by Eileen as we entered the house. She gave us and another couple a quick tour of the home, and the history behind it. Our room was the Maple Room upstairs. It was cozy and comfortable for our two night stay. The room was very clean with a lot of attention to detail like the crock with drinking water, reading material and such. We had a few beetle like bugs in our room, which like to hang out on the window shades, but there is a note to visitors that if it is a problem to let them know.

The house itself is a beautifully restored historic home with an interesting history. The spacious grounds are beautiful as well. You can even take a short walk in the woods behind the property. The location is close to the battlefield, which is great if that is what you are in Gettysburg for.

The B&B was full of guests and it was nice to chat with some of them, and see them in the morning at breakfast. The food was good and plentiful, though more simple compared to what some might expect at other B&B's.

We enjoyed our stay and hosts at the Lightner Farmhous.

We had such a pleasant stay with Dennis and Eileen, they were kind and caring, wanting to accommodate us in any way they could. Our whole experience was superb. To get away from the noise, hustle and bustle of the Gettysburg crowd was fantastic. Their location was close and easy to find, definitely a plus.
My husband and I were treated as if we were long time friends from the second we arrived. Had a wonderful breakfast with their son, loved his food and company. Thank you for your hospitality, hope we get the opportunity to visit again.
We would also like to thank Betty for the paranormal experience at Sach's bridge, and recommend you do this also. She was very knowledgeable. Appreciated her company, stories and use of her equipment at the bridge and b &b, much thanks for the CD.

We were extremely pleased with the facilities and our hosts (Eileen and Dennis). The breakfasts were delightfully prepared by Eileen and Don (her son). We all enjoyed Betsy, who helps there and also does paranormal tours (for guests only...)... Whether you are a believer or not, it is definitely a worthwhile evening. Great location. We will certainly stay here when we return to Gettysburg. Al & Arlene (NJ)

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Maple room... Having the ceiling fan as a supplement to the a/c was a good idea.

If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful B&B that's away from the Gettysburg crowds but only a few minutes drive to the battlefields and shops, the Lightner Farmhouse B&B is your best choice. The house is as comfortable as your own home and the owners Eileen and Dennis truly make their guests feel welcome. Breakfasts are filled with wonderful food and friendly conversation, and the dining room is always open for self-serve coffee, tea, and wonderful home-baked cookies. We will be recommending the Lightner Farmhouse to our friends and family, and are confident that you will be doing the same after your first visit.
