George and Alexandra always out-do their warmpth and friendliness is always heartwarming.
The warm mood of the decor in the rooms and the Paris theme is an experience.
We highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast no matter what your style is.

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Rafael Inn.  We were celebrating his birthday with a weekend in Gettysburg.  We had never been there so didn't know what to expect, but our two nights at the Rafael Inn were really the best part of our trip.  It was the comfortable, welcoming and beautiful home away from home we could look forward to returning to after exploring the battlefield and town.  We stayed in the California Rose room.  It was very spacious with a fun but tasteful beach theme, a king bed, hardwood floors, and a really comfortable couch to relax on at night and read about the war.  Really, the pictures don't do the rooms justice.  Alexandra let us peek in the other two rooms (as we were the only guests that weekend.) They were also really nice, especially the Lincoln room.  Alexandra was so excited to show us their home.  You could feel and see the pride of ownership both she and George had for their home.  They seem to truly care about every detail.  Our favorite part of our stay was the 5 star breakfasts...oh my goodness (an artfully prepared fruit/nut starters each morning, banana french toast, a veggie omelet (we are vegetarians) some yummy bread, orange juice and coffee.)  The presentation, taste, service was so special.  Although we often feel nervous about having to chat with strangers at bed and breakfasts, there were separate little tables in the cute "cafe" with coffee and papers waiting for us.  Alex and George served us our breakfast and despite their willingness to let us have our privacy, we started to chat a bit and before we knew it, 2 hours had gone by.  They have to be the most down to earth, but professional, and service oriented people we have ever met.  We want them to move closer to us : ) Oh, finally, it was so convenient to be just 1 minute from town but not have to street park.  Overall, we could not recommend the Rafael Inn enough, and will stay there again when coming back to Gettysburg.

My sister and I live about 6 hours away from each other, and Gettysburg was a midway point for both of us. This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and it was a great experience. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we were treated with warmth and care. They went above and beyond in assisting our needs for our stay. They really took the time to get to know us to really understand what we liked and what we didn't like. Which was great for deciding where to eat and what to see. That quality was also shown by each of their rooms. They definitely had a lot of detail in every room to make each room stick out. If you're every in the area..I HIGHLY recommend.

If you are planning a trip to Gettysburg - This is the place to stay. You will be spoiled by the most caring and wonderful hosts George/Alex and Heidi the wonder dog. We were greeted every morning with a delicious homemade breakfast. My son and I were visiting Gettysburg College and it was within walking distance. But due to the large snow storm that October weekend we drove to the campus. Thanks to George and Alex for looking out for us and checking up on us during our stay. Also, they recommended wonderful places to eat and visit. Sincerely, Julie and Taylor

Room Tip: We stayed in the California - Rose

Our Family decided to get away for a few days during the New Years school break . As I researched the many possibilities of Bed and Breakfasts in and around Gettysburg, one of these stood out. Raphael's. The reason it stood out was the many excellent reviews it received. But if you read these reviews, you would notice that many people not only wrote about their experience in Gettysburg but there appreciation and fondness with the Inn's owners. Alex, George, and their "wonder dog" Heidi. Also people wrote about the cleanliness, and the breakfast and all around atmosphere of the Inn. They were all "Spot on"
As we arrived at the Raphael Inn in the early evening, we were greeted with a wonderful sweet aroma perfectly timed to give you the feeling of being welcomed to their 5 star Inn. It also gave you the feeling you went back in time with the beautiful decor of the Inn, like you were in Paris, France during the 1920's.
We were first greeted by Alex with her warm, welcoming smile immediately gave you a the feeling that this was a wise choice in staying at their B&B. Soon after, her husband George came out to greet us with Heidi. After talking with them, I then understood why so many people wrote wonderful things about the Inn and it's Keepers. We stayed in the the "California Room". It was like staying in a luxury bedroom in which were designed with such love and care. Our children are 15 and 10 who also came with us. Our Daughter said " This was the nicest place she ever stayed in " My son also said the same thing. As our children explored the various candies left in well positioned bowls around the Inn, things just seemed perfect. Everything from the soft, fluffy pillows to the well positioned pictures on the walls. Sitting in a quaint dining room by the window was enjoyable in the evening sipping on hot cocoa and talking to Alex and George. Enjoying freshly baked brownies are something I will remember. On New Years Eve ,our family walked down to the Gettysburg Circle which was a short 10 minute walk. I would highly recommend this walk because of the many beautiful homes along the road. Also, Alex and George will give you many ideas in what to do in Gettysburg. The tour of the battlefield was the most memorable indeed for me. Our Daughters favorite were the Haunted homes that were advertisedfrom the various Ghost Hunter shows on TV. As I am a much traveled person and very picky as to where I stay, I must say this is a "10", a 5 Star! This trip was so much fun for everyone. My wife liked the Dobbins House for dinner where we had the most amazing french onion soup by candlelight.

The best part of this trip is knowing we will surely be returning to Gettysburg but not just to enjoy the many things to do there, but all of us will look forward to spending a few days with our new friends that we made on this vacation.

Room Tip: We are a family of 4. The California Suite was perfect for us.

We were part of a birthday celebration (6 couples) Nov 18, 2011. The Raphael Inn was perfect for us as we booked all three rooms. The hosts (Alexandra and George) live on site, along with their dog Heidi, and were most hospitable. Every early evening Alexandra made a great dessert/snack and the breakfasts were very good. We stayed in the Lincoln Room which had its own little enclosed (upstairs) balcony/sitting room area. They know the Gettysburg area well, can recommend restaurants, sites and local towns, along with helping in arranging Battlefield tour reservations. The Inn is less than a 10-min walk to downtown and is near the college. (Either a long walk to the Battlefield/visitors center or drive.) Very much recommended!

Room Tip: California Suite the largest and sunny Lincoln Room decorated most period-like All three rooms ups...

What a perfect place to enjoy Gettysburg. You couldn't ask for a better host and hostess. Very comfortable and clean accommodations. The breakfast were outstanding and there was always a snack in the evening. Wonderful friendly people. A nice short walk from the center of town. I would suggest staying in the California Rose room, what a wonderful treat. Looking forward to another stay next year. We celebrated a birthday and Alexandra baked the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted. Thank you for making this trip so special.

Room Tip: Splurge on the California Room, it is well worth the extra money.
