This is a nice museum to visit. It's the house where Abraham Lincoln stayed before he gave the Gettysburg Address. There is a video giving an overview when you go into the museum and another video upstairs. We really enjoyed visiting the museum.

This place is obviously rich in historical significance because of the justified importance of the Gettysburg address, and it is tingling to be in the (reconstructed) bedroom where Lincoln finalized his remarks. There are also exhibits describing and explaining the address and pictures showing Lincoln and others going from downtown Gettysburg to the newly created national cemetery where he gave the speech. So, that part is cool, and I think that it would have been more impressive if Lincoln and the address was the focus. But more than half the museum was on David Wills and the town of Gettysburg and its reaction to the battle, and these parts were not well done. So, a mixed bag. I would like them to bolster the Lincoln/Gettsburg Address part. And if you're not into Lincoln and the address, you probably won't enjoy this museum.

This is where Lincoln stopped before Gettysburg address. There is a fee to enter, which based on the fee vs size of the place still debatable. Overall, ranger who worked the desk was very helpful and was glad we stopped.

I remember the Wills House when it was just a room--the "Lincoln Bedroom" with nothing original. In the intervening years, the great effort was made to track down the original bed, linens, etc. from the bedroom that night that President Lincoln stayed there, putting the final touches on The Address. For me, the Wills House was a chance to imagine the great man in a brief moment before the defining speech of his life. To qualify my remarks, I was able to tour the home for free during an evening of Open Houses right before the 150th Anniversary Celebration. Wonderfully, the local legend James Getty appeared (he is the Lincoln impersonator--perfect likeness in every way) on the steps of the Wills house and spoke a few minutes. It was lovely.
