We stopped in at Herr's Restaurant for dinner after a day at Gettysburg Military Park. We were seated in an enclosed porch area overlooking the country side.
Our server arrived and introduced himself and asked if we had been at Herr's before. We said no and he then proceeded to tell us about the menu, etc. We decided to split the crab cake appetizer and the filet mignon dinner. I ordered the lobster salad.
Before the appetizer arrived, we received several pieces of pumpernickel and pretzl bread with a roasted garlic/oil spread. Then we were served a red pepper hummus spread. Both were excellent.
The crab cakes came and were the best we have ever eaten. They simply melted in your mouth. My lobster salad came and was loaded with lobster pieces in a ginger marinade.
Our steak arrived with asparagus and twice baked potatoes. We had ordered the steak medium rare, but it was actually more medium. It was delicious, even though not cooked entirely the way we like.
We had an excellent meal and plan on returning.
