“Will not go back, many better restaurants in Gettysburg”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We really were excited to try this brew pub (Buford Ave. location), but it was just a disappointing meal. As soon as we sat down we noticed trash all over the floor near our table, a little gross but we could overlook it if they were really busy, which they were not. Ordered garlic fries for an appetizer, they were good. Got a few beers, server never mentioned they do flights and it doesn't mention it on the menu, would have rather done that to try a few different things. My beer was flat, even had my husband try it, he agreed. He liked his. The main disappointment was the meal. I had pretzel chicken, it was a great idea but had no flavor. I mean NONE. Why not add some seasonings? Also, the veggies served with it were half normal looking and half discolored, so something had happened there. My husbands panini was just ok he said. The kids both refused to finish their meals, which is a major sign that something is wrong. The one had pizza, and disliked the sauce intensely. We saw another diner at a table adjacent to ours mention the same thing to her server. The other child had macaroni and cheese and didn't like it. How can you mess up macaroni and cheese!? For an $80 meal, it just was a disappointment. You can get beer anywhere, do that and eat somewhere else.

“Easy Evening at the Gateway”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Appalachian Brewing Company is a brew pub chain, similar, thought not as upscale, as Iron Hill Brewery. There were two locations in Gettysburg; Battlefield Brew Pub and Gateway. The Battlefield Brew Pub, along with the motel on the same site, has been sold and will be torn down to add to the land surrounding General Lee's headquarters. So, the confusion over which spot is which will no longer apply. The Gateway brew pub looks and feels like a new, comfortable chain style establishment. Since we were staying at the Marriott next door, we tried it out for dinner on our last night in town. We opted for the outside dining area which made for a pleasant, easy and uncrowded evening. The beer is indeed excellent and we sampled their IPA, cask IPA and Stout. All very tasty. Dinner consisted of their three cheese flat flat bread, very good, and their ribs. For ribs done in the oven, rather than a smoker, they were good, not great. Our server was attentive and friendly, though it did take a little wait to get the check at the end, not a big issue for us since we were walking back to our hotel. From our perspective we enjoyed the Gateway, especially their brews.

“great beer”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We stopped in here after a long day touring Gettysburg.
Enjoyed the sampler of local brews and a small bit to eat before heading back to Hershey.
Glad we spotted this place.
Susquehanna Stout was good!

“Back to Gettysburg, back to ABC”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We spent three days in Gettysburg, which meant three trips to ABC (two for dinner, and one for lunch). What more can I say?
