The B&B was absolutely charming! We only stayed one night, but it was the cleanest room I have ever been in. Brian and Tessa were wonderful! The breakfast was amazing! We will absolutely be back to stay again. The B&B was located near shopping and attractions! All you had to do was walk where you wanted to go! Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Maryland Room! Wonderful room!

Thanks for the review. We're glad you liked the Maryland Room - it's one of our favorites. Glad too that you liked that it was very clean - we try really hard to keep all the rooms spotless. We have a great team of housekeepers. We really hope you'll come back soon.
Take care of yourselves, and
Best wishes,
Tessa and Brian

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the The Brickhouse Inn and we were very pleased with our experience. The Inn is beautifully appointed and comfortable without feeling stuffy. We stayed in the New York room which was quite comfortable. My one word of caution to others might be to pick a room on the back of the house if you are sensitive to noise. We noticed a lot of traffic noise well into the evening and again early in the morning. Mostly motorcycles for some reason. While it didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay, others might want to know.
The location is wonderful as well. Close to shopping and eating as well as to the national cemetery.
The highlight for our trip was the private 3 hour tour with George Newton. The staff made arrangements for us for the tour and it couldn't have been easier. George was fantastic and we would highly recommend him. He was thorough and we could tell this was truly a passion for him. He was able to tailor the tour to meet our needs. I would never have gotten the depth of information had I just visited the museum/visitors center.
We were also fortunate with wonderful weather and eating breakfast out on the patio each morning was wonderful and a great start to the day.

Room Tip: Rooms are the back of the houses may be quieter. Third floor means no noise from people above.

Thank you for the review. It's a pity you were disturbed by traffic noise from Baltimore Street - sadly the Boro won't do anything about it.. We are in the process of having laminated glass inserts made for the windows facing the street, which are reputed to cut external noise by half. In the meantime, we have seven rooms at the back of the houses (four in the Victorian house, two in the Welty House, and the Carriage House Room at the back of the garden).
We're glad you enjoyed the tour of the Battlefield with George - it's by far the best way to tour. The guides are all very professional. The three-hour tour was a good choice - something we always recommend. The two-hour tour doesn't do justice to the 6,000 acre National Park and the long and complex Battle.
Thanks for coming to stay! Our best wishes,
Tessa and Brian

The Brickhouse Inn B&B is a very nice place to stay in Gettysburg. Brian and Tessa are very gracious Innkeepers. Our rooms were a bit cramped, but the house is Civil war vintage and should be expected for homes in that era. The facility appeared recently renovated with modern bath fixtures and the entire place is in amazingly good condition for its age. The breakfasts are exceptional, fancy fruit cup and French toast the first day and pancakes with crisp bacon the next. They even serve desert with breakfast and provided home-made layer cake and cookies each afternoon. Coffee, tea and other beverages are available 24/7.

The rooms were very clean, stocked with abundant towels and the beds and linens were very comfortable. If there are any negatives, I found the Wi-Fi connection a bit slow and our street-side rooms were a little noisy from truck traffic on the main road. Overall our stay at the Brickhouse Inn was a very enjoyable experience, so we definitely will come back if we return to Gettysburg. I recommend staying at this B&B and rate them 4 stars - Very Good!

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear should be quieter with less road noise.

Thanks for your review - most valuable coming from experienced travelers. Your rooms were in our medium size range. We do have larger rooms; most of them are in the Welty House, although there are two suites in the Victorian House. Obviously, the rates are a bit higher in the larger rooms. We're glad you enjoyed the breakfasts and thanks for giving such a good description of them.

I was a great place to spend a few nights. Very accommodating and a great breakfast in the morning. Also assisted with dinner reservations and arranging a guided tour of the battlefield. Located within walking distance of center of town.

We're so glad you stayed with us and enjoyed it. We're happy to make dinner reservations and to book a guide. We're now sending guests a list of restaurants before they arrive, to help them choose. We're more confident that guests will enjoy the tour with a licensed guide. Of the many hundreds of tours we've arranged not a single person has been disappointed, and most guests rave about the quality of the guides.
Thank you for writing the review. We hope to see you again!

The Brickhouse Inn is most likely the reason why we plan on re-visiting Gettysburg. The hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great suggestions on activities. Tessa and Brian couldn't have been more welcoming. We felt right at home the minute we arrived. The room was beautiful, the gardens and the buildings are so special, an attraction all on their own...really something to see! We were sad to leave....

Thanks for the review! We're glad you liked the old buildings and the garden. We feel very fortunate to have the Welty House (1830) and the Victorian house (1898). They once belonged to the same family, and it's good that they are 'together' after many years of being under separate ownership. They became rental properties and, as often happens, they got into a deteriorated state. Now they are in excellent condition, reflecting the quality of their original construction.
We would love you to visit again one day.
Best wishes from

I based our decision on other Trip Advisor reviews and they were right on - The Brickhouse Inn was superb. The private tour guide they arranged for us really brought history alive. I would strongly suggest going this route. Bryan gave us great suggestions on other places to eat and we had a wonderful dinner at Dobbins House as part of our package - the crab cakes were fabulous. We stayed in the Kentucky Suite which had a separate room with two comfortable wing chairs for reading. My husband was worried about he old fashion claw foot tub with a shower curtain, but both of us agreed that it was a wonderful shower with good water pressure and temperature. We'll definitely stay there again if we go back.

Room Tip: The Kentucky Suite had a wonderful balcony to sit on that overlooked the garden and you could actual...

Thanks for coming to stay! We're glad you liked the Kentucky Suite and its balcony - very special with the bullet scars from the Battle of Gettysburg. We're glad you chose to take a guide for the tour of the Battlefield - the guides are exceptional. I think a lot of visitors who haven't been to Gettysburg before don't know about the quality of the guides and are influenced by bad experiences elsewhere. Our licensed guides here could hardly be better, in both knowledge and delivery.
We're glad you enjoyed the Dobbin House too. There are several other historic inns near Gettysburg that you could try if you come back here - which we hope you will!
Thanks for writing the review.
Best wishes

This is a beautifully appointed home with wonderful owners. Brian and Tessa could have not been more gracious and very helpful in providing info on things to do and see and places to eat. The inn is also wonderfully located. We could walk to almost everywhere. We stayed in the Ohio room and it was very clean and comfortable. We are now planning a return and stop for a couple of days on our way to more Civil War battlefields
