This was my husband and I's first stay in a Bed and Breakfast and we were beyond happy with our experience. The Brickhouse Inn is so charming, it truly lives up to its great reviews! We stayed in the Delaware Room which was decorated to perfection and super clean. We loved the private patio entrance and the porch with rocking chairs for us to enjoy in the evenings. I can't say enough about the breakfast..it was absolutely amazing! Brian, Tessa and staff were so welcoming and accommodating, we are already planning our next trip back. Thank you Brickhouse Inn for a great first B&B experience!

We're very pleased that you enjoyed your first experience in a B&B and we hope you will try some more! Although we had stayed in many B&Bs in Europe (which are different) we had only stayed in one in the US before buying the Brickhouse Inn. Now, we always try to stay in B&Bs. One of the fun things about them is that they are all different. All our rooms are different, too. We're glad you liked the Delaware Room, and it's porch and access from the patio. We noticed that our repeat guests have their favorite rooms, and the Delaware Room is one of the most popular.
Thanks very much for writing the review. We really enjoyed meeting you, and hope you will come to stay again one day.
Our best wishes, Tessa and Brian

We picked the Brickhouse Inn on the basis of reading favorable reviews from others who have stayed there. We were not disappointed. The Illinois room was lovely and very comfortable to spend the night in. Though it was in the front of the house the noise level was not a problem. Maybe the bikers all went to be early that night but I don't think so.

Breakfast was excellent and complimented by great coffee. Tessa and Brian could not have more gracious hosts.

Thank you for writing the review - it was good of you to take the time.
We're glad you enjoyed your first visit to Gettysburg, and the Illinois room - one of our favorites. It's one of the largest of our rooms and we're debating about putting in a king-size bed.
We're relieved to know that you weren't bothered by street noise. It has its moments and we've started a program of extra glazing on the windows facing the street - it's noticeably quieter.
We hope you'll make a second visit one day.
Our best wishes, Tessa and Brian

My wife and I spent a night at the here this past Labor Day weekend. We booked it due to the great ratings it had on Tripadvisor...and we are very glad we did. The facility consists of two homes Baltimore St, one of the main commercial arteries through Gettysburg. We stayed in the Kentucky room, a two room suite on the 2nd floor that faces the back garden. Our hosts, Tessa and Brian were warm, interesting, and professional. They made a point of engaging us in some great conversations...and we really felt quite welcomed. You know it's a great B+B when you feel like the most important people there.
The Brickhouse is charming, spacious, and absolutely immaculate. Our room had a real Civil War era feel...lots of antiques and period furniture. The beautiful bathroom was modern and up-to-date, a feature which was very appreciated. The suite had a great private porch that overlooked the gardens. We found it fascinating that during the battle our room had actually served as a Rebel sharpshooter nest. There were actually bullet holes in the wall of our porch...there's no better way to feel close to the battle than that!
Tessa had cake and cookies out throughout the evening, along with tea and coffee. We saw the other patrons in the evening using the beautiful gardens for some wine and relaxation. The garden has a waterfall feature and plenty of shady seating areas.
Breakfast was delicious and ample. We were able to eat outside in the garden, which was a great way to start the day.
The Brickhouse's location is perfect. You're a few blocks outside the Square, so the traffic is a little less. Parking is free and directly behind the facility...that is an issue with some of other B+B's in Gettysburg. You can literally walk directly onto the battlefield within about a two minute walk out the back door. The National Cemetary is a 2 block walk up the street.
There's a bunch of shops right in the immediate area....ice cream, tourist stuff, historical galleries, etc.
So, we had a great stay at the Brickhouse, and we will most definately stay there again. Brian and Tess were gracious and lovely hosts, and they run an outstanding B+B.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have private 2nd floor porches, which is a nice feature. The ones facing the back...

We stayed here for our 30th anniversary and loved the room decor and the outside breakfast each morning. The only downside to our stay was our room, the Texas, was right on the main street so traffic noise at night was quite loud.

Thanks for writing a review - we really appreciate that you took the time to do it. We're very sorry you were troubled by the traffic noise. Our location is ideal because you can walk to most of the shops and restaurants, but it does mean that you can get some traffic noise in the front rooms that face the street. We have already installed a mini-split air-conditioning system, and we've made the Texas Room a priority for extra glazing. We have seven rooms at the back of the houses that are much quieter, and we hope you will come to stay again and take one of those rooms.
Best wishes, Tessa and Brian

We stayed at the Brickhouse Inn 7 years ago and loved it. When it came time to choose a place, to stay in Gettysburg for our 45th anniversary, it was a no brainer but to choose the Brickhouse Inn. We stayed in the Delaware room and it was wonderful. The breakfasts that were served were soooooo delicious. Brian & Tessa go above and beyond to make sure that their guests are comfortable and happy. Had a wonderful time sitting on the porch rocking chairs meeting and talking to other guests. Everyone was having a good time. Thanks again.....

We feel honored that you chose to spend your 45th at The Brickhouse Inn. And we're glad you enjoyed yourselves. The Delaware Room is very popular - we think because it's on the 1st floor, with easy access (from the patio).
Thanks very much for writing the review - much appreciated. We do hope you'll come back to stay another time.
Take care of yourselves. Best wishes, Tessa and Brian

I had read the reviews of the Brickhouse Inn and decided to take a chance, since this was my family's first trip to Gettysburg. I was so glad I did! The Inn was right on Baltimore Street where you could walk to museums, restaurants, ice cream places, and more. The Inn itself felt like you stepped back in time, and our room was far more superior that I had imagined. The breakfasts we had the 2 days we were there were fabulous. The Innkeepers Brian and Tessa were the nicest, and made sure we were content, and they work hard at keeping the Inn at high quality. We did so much in the 2 full days we were there but still have lots to see!! We loved our private guide John Weixel for the battlefield tour. Cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: we had the back room but could still see the yard and street, and also had a separate sitting/sleep...

Thanks very much for writing such a lovely review - we really appreciate it. We loved meeting you, and we're so glad you enjoyed your time at the Inn, and in Gettysburg. It was a good choice on your part to take the tour with a licensed guide, and you had one of the best.
There certainly is a lot to do and see in Gettysburg, which surprises many of our guests. It's a great base for side trips, too - to Antietam, Harpers Ferry, Hershey, and Lancaster.
It would be great to see you again!
Take care of yourselves. Tessa and Brian

We would recommend the Brickhouse Inn B&B to all, they really go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. We stayed in the carriage house which was very private and quiet, but very spacious. Which is what we wanted to celebrate our 20th anniversary. There were flowers, chocolates and dinner reservations in our room when we arrived (upon request by my husband). The owners and staff were excellent hosts, the rooms were one of the cleanest I have ever stayed. The gardens were beautiful and very well maintained. It's very relaxing to sit on the Adirondack chairs in the garden in the morning and drink coffee. And the 3 course gourmet breakfast served on the patio is phenomenal! (To include pie, please try the regional favorite, shoo-fly pie which is wonderful.) My husband has a food allergy & they were very good at making special accommodations for this and made a different dish just for him. The location is also convenient too, close to the square, museums, restaurants and other attractions. We could walk everywhere so our car stayed in the rear parking lot. We loved our experience, it was excellent and would definitely return again.

We felt very honored that you chose to stay at The Brickhouse Inn for your 20th Anniversary. We're glad, too, that you enjoyed your time here.
The Carriage House Room is great if you want a private entrance and a bit of extra quiet. so we're glad you liked it so much.
We were happy to look after your husband's food allergy - it's no trouble at all.
We'd be delighted if you could come again - but don't wait for 20 years!
Our best wishes,
Tessa and Brian
