“Close to Perfect - The Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast, Gettysburg,PA”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Our stay at the Brickhouse B & B with hosts Bruce & Tessa was the best B&B we've experienced ever! The rooms are beautifully well appointed and comfortable, breakfast filling and delightful, and the staff friendly and courteous. On short notice we stayed an extra night, and were accommodated quickly and easily, even though we had to change rooms. Our stay was May 6,7,& 8 so we were able to enjoy the beautiful flowering, green garden with waterfall/pond in the back. We give it a 'close to perfect' as it was a bit windy & cool one day...hardly a deal breaker! Their recommendations for sightseeing were spot on as well. We especially enjoyed the Victorian Photography up the street! We will definitely plan on revisiting this historic region with a stay at the Welty House/Brickhouse ! We highly recommend!

Room Tip: Two rooms upstairs in the Welty House have balconies overlooking the peacefull garden!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us. We really enjoy meeting people from all over the world and love helping them realize what a special place Gettysburg is. I sure wish we could have sorted the weather out for you! You'll have to comeback when it gets a little warmer so that you can enjoy breakfast outside on the brick patio surrounded by the garden in bloom. Best wishes~ Amy

These folks take good care of their guests. Anything we needed from dining advise to tour guides was attended to on our behalf. As a surprise, our nephew who is stationed at Norfolk Naval was able to join us for the morning and they treated him like royalty.
Walking distance from the National Cemetery, shopping, dining and loads of history. Breakfast was excellent on all mornings of our stay and the room was very comfortable. The back garden is relaxing and gorgeous. We definitely give this our recommendation.

Room Tip: We were on the rear of the 3rd floor. Despite Baltimore Street being close and busy, we never heard...

Thank you so much for the nice review. It was delightful to meet you both and an honor to have your nephew join us for breakfast. The garden is coming along more and more each day, with new flowers blooming and we are hoping to be able to begin serving breakfast outside just as soon as it warms up a little more. We hope you'll come back and visit us again. Best Wishes~ Amy

Owners and personnal were friendly, accomodating and helpful. Rooms were great, well decorated and transported us in the 19th century, peacefully of course. The back yard looked extremely inviting but we could not enjoy: a bit cool in April. Having to leave early on departure day, we were giving a nice breakfast for the road.
Yes, Gettysburg...an ex-battllefield. The Brickouse ...an healing place.

Room Tip: On heavy rainy days, the sump pump is "alive" if staying on first floor.

This really is a great B&B. It is comfy, walking distance from the main shopping part of Gettysburg and the tourist center (huge plus). Also, they were very accommodating with me as I showed up late (they try and scar you on their website about being late, but they will give you direction to your room and your key is a special location if you give them a call). Also, people actually use the common room, so the B&B has a very social feel to it. Another great add on is that their are two breakfast times to choose from. So, depending on when you day's activities begin you can choose to start early, or sleep in.

I do have some slight issues with Brickhouse though. It felt that the hosts didn't want us there, and we were a burden (though Tessa is very friendly). I suppose I should have expected this as the size of this is more of a motel so they had more things to do. Also, the first morning's breakfast I had was lots of pastries. It was very tasty, but for a day of walking in Gettysburg it didn't help.

In short, I do promote this B&B (and had a great time), but the next time I go to Gettysburg I may look at a different one.

Room Tip: My fiance and I stayed in the Maryland room in the front of the house. A lot of people seem to compl...

Thank you for your review. We're glad you thought we're a really great B&B. Sorry you felt unwanted - but certainly that wasn't the case. We enjoy all our guests and try to make each one feel welcome. We'd like you to come again, and you can tell us about your breakfast preferences. We don't serve pastries, but we have a great selection of breakfast desserts.
Best wishes,
Tessa

We had a great stay with our family of four at this charming B&B. Our bedrooms were very nice and the ambiance was exactly what one would want in a historic town like Gettysburg. The hosts were very friendly and offered a number of sightseeing tips. The breakfast was delicious and more than ample. Highly recommend.

The Brickhouse Inn is a superlative place in all respects. The owners, Tessa and Brian, are wonderful folks and exceedingly accommodating. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms are lovely, well kept, and incredibly clean. The place has a wonderful 19th century feel to it, and is decorated beautifully and tastefully. As to the food, it is amazing ... in fact, the best meals we had during our stay in Gettysburg were the breakfasts at the Brickhouse Inn; they were delicious. Given our great experience at the Brickhouse Inn, we do not wish to stay anywhere else when we return to Gettysburg. It's really a terrific place.

Room Tip: We stayed in the New York room for a couple of nights and then moved to the Alabama Room. They were...
