“Wonderful B&B”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Stayed three nights with friends and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The innkeepers, Tessa and Brian, were great hosts and the service throughout our stay was exceptional. The location is great and the garden area spectacular. Breakfasts were fabulous and Brian and Tessa were most accommodating in supplying us with recipes. On our last morning the weather was so perfect that breakfast was moved to the garden patio (first of the season); this was indeed a great way to end our stay. As we frequently are in the Gettysburg's area, the Brickhouse Inn will be our first choice for lodging.

A wonderful Bed and Breakfast in the downtown are of Gettysburg. The location was convenient and close to local attractions. Room was very clean and comfortable. Host and hostess were accommodating. Breakfast was home-made and delicious.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Texas room. First floor made it easy to unload and load the car.

We stayed here on our way to State College, we arrived exhausted after a terrible journey from Heathrow due to flight cancellations. The directions were perfect, the room suited us perfectly, and we started to relax as soon as we arrived. Amy was very kind in supplying us with all we needed for a picnic snack on the patio on the first day after we returned from our trip round the Battlefield. We had popped to the local supermarket to buy a few things. Our second day we had planned to relax and went to the Outlet Mall, which was brilliant. Brian and Tessa are fantastic hosts, making us very welcome and ready with advice if needed. It was lovely weather and we had breakfast on the patio on the last morning. I shall certainly recommend this to all my friends, Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor are right, excellent indeed!

This was our best B&B experience to date. The hosts (Brian and Tessa) cannot be more welcoming or accommodating. Prior to checking in we had tried unsuccessfully to get dinner reservations at the Dobbin House but when we mentioned it to Brian he made a phone call and we had a reservation that very evening. They also arranged a private guide to show us the battlefield which was an experience we cannot recommend highly enough The location was perfect for us; close to the National Cemetery and battlefield and all of the Gettysburg attractions. Everything is within easy walking distance. Even so, the grounds are like a tranquil island amid the hubbub. The weather was cooperative so we were able to enjoy breakfast on the patio both days of our stay. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious. We cannot recommend the Brickhouse Inn highly enough.

Thank you so much for the lovely review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit. We like to make sure our guests have the best possible experience while they are visiting our historic little town. A private car tour with a Licensed Battlefield Guide is definitely the best way to see the 6,000 acres of Battlefield. The guides are amazing and you just can't find a more knowledgeable or dedicated group of people. I'm so glad you liked it. We do hope you'll visit us again! Best Wishes ~ Amy

We enjoyed our stay at the Brickhouse Inn. Everyone was so helpful--Amy helped us secure the guided National Park tour and dinner at Dobbin House (both highly recommended); Melanie got us Google directions to the airport and Brian printed out boarding passes for us. Breakfast was delicious; it was interesting to have Shoo-fly Pie as a breakfast dessert. I wish we had selected a different room; although it was comfortable, it was a tad small and on the 3rd floor with narrow steep stairs. The Inn was convenient to dining and attractions. Thanks to everyone for making our stay a memorable one.

This is a very friendly and comfortable place to stay right in the heart of Gettysburg. If you do not like small rooms, be sure to ask for a larger one. Everything was well-appointed and clean and the breakfasts were quite good. Our only complaint was that we had trouble with the pull-out trundle bed (carpet obstructed the wheels) which we advised the owner upon leaving. She was going to check into it. Service was very good overall. The Dobbin House restaurant is a quick walk away.

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies which is a nice feature. Smaller rooms do not have closets, just hooks to...

Our stay at the Brickhouse B & B with hosts Bruce & Tessa was the best B&B we've experienced ever! The rooms are beautifully well appointed and comfortable, breakfast filling and delightful, and the staff friendly and courteous. On short notice we stayed an extra night, and were accommodated quickly and easily, even though we had to change rooms. Our stay was May 6,7,& 8 so we were able to enjoy the beautiful flowering, green garden with waterfall/pond in the back. We give it a 'close to perfect' as it was a bit windy & cool one day...hardly a deal breaker! Their recommendations for sightseeing were spot on as well. We especially enjoyed the Victorian Photography up the street! We will definitely plan on revisiting this historic region with a stay at the Welty House/Brickhouse ! We highly recommend!

Room Tip: Two rooms upstairs in the Welty House have balconies overlooking the peacefull garden!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us. We really enjoy meeting people from all over the world and love helping them realize what a special place Gettysburg is. I sure wish we could have sorted the weather out for you! You'll have to comeback when it gets a little warmer so that you can enjoy breakfast outside on the brick patio surrounded by the garden in bloom. Best wishes~ Amy
