Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 23 Gettysburg B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence

Columbus Day weekend marked our third stay at The Brickhouse Inn. It is like coming home when we return to Gettysburg each fall. Brian and Tessa are delightful people and they will do anything to accomodate you. The rooms are spotless and nicely decorated The morning breakfast is wonderful and topped off with traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Shoo Fly Pie. Brian does an outstanding job maintaining all of the gorgeous gardens that surround the inn. The location of the inn puts you within walking distance to the National Park Visitors Center, restaurants and shops. We will continue to make the six hour drive each year to Gettysburg and visit the Brickhouse Inn.

This was our first visit to Gettysburg and we booked for two nights at the Brickhouse Inn. As an add on package, I also purchased a tour with a battlefield guide, and it was a delightful addition to our stay--and I highly recommend it in addition to the Visitor Center operated by the Park Service. Our Texas room was spacious, immaculately clean, and very comfortable--but close to the street, so there was some traffic noise. The inn is conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants, ghost tours, and shops. We also walked to the downtown square from the inn, as the weather was sunny and pleasant, which gave us more time to enjoy the historic properties along the way. Breakfast was served promptly and was a hearty and delicious meal, and dessert was also offered. Seating for breakfast was at larger tables, so we had ample opportunity to visit with other guests. Brian and Tessa are excellent innkeepers and we had a delightful stay at the Brickhouse Inn.

This was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast and let me tell you, there is no better place to stay at! It all started with a friendly phone conversation with Brian when I made the reservation. Then when we showed up we were immediately greeted by Tessa. The hospitality of both Tessa and Brian is second to none. They both made sure that all of our needs were taken care of. Brian arranged a personal battlefield tour for us with one of the best tour guides in the area. The rooms and bathroom were spotless. You could literally eat off the floor it was that clean!!! The breakfast each morning was outstanding. The food was of high quality and just the right portion size. The grounds were absolutely beautiful with the gardens and fountains. This was one of the best getaway vacations that my family and I have been on and staying at the Brickhouse was the highlight. The next time I'm in Gettysburg I will definitely stay there again.

From the moment you step over onto the hardwood floors of the Inn, you feel welcomed, at home, and the stress of everyday life lifts away. Tessa and Brian are most welcoming, and you feel as if you are visiting family. The Inn is spotless, furnished with period pieces and seasonal decor; the Fall decorations added an extra warmth to an already charming B & B. The North Carolina suite was so clean, the bathroom was spacious and the towels and sheets were like being wrapped in sheer comfort. The additional sitting room with daybed was the perfect spot to read; our second floor porch provided for hours of relaxing and gazing onto the immaculate landscaped gardens and water feature. Coffee and tea are available all day which is a welcome treat. Breakfast is an experience of sheer refinement and bliss; by simply serving your fruit and yogurt in a fancy cup, one feels so special and truly cared for. There is no rushing, no constant phones ringing, no loud tv, no noise; you can relax and enjoy delicious hot meals in comfort and peace. Each breakfast is finished with dessert, the shoofly pie is a rare treat!! Brian and Tessa can make advance dining reservations for popular local dining spots; the location could not be more perfect. The car can be parked in their private lot, and you can walk to so very much. Free time can be spent on the porch rockers watching the sights and sounds, or you can retreat into the cozy parlor for pure relaxation. The only sad part of the stay is the time to leave, which is lessened by being able to make advance reservations to return next year.

Located a few minutes walk from the town centre and 2 minutes drive from the Gettysburg Visitors Centre (museum, tours etc). Comfortable, colonial style, self contained rooms in or adjoining the main house. Great hosts (Brian originally from the UK and Tessa from Rhodesia. Great breakfast with a home made recipe specialty. Their knowledge of the area and the visitor centre is helpful as is their familiarity of local restaurants. All in all a great guest house I'd recommend to anyone.

Well maintained, clean, comfortable & beautifully decorated & landscaped facility; delectable breakfasts, entire staff helpful, courteous & hospitable; Brian, co-owner/innkeeper, made us feel like we were the most important people on earth (his British accent was also very charming); very professionally operated B & B including arranging for guides & making restaurant reservations.

When visiting Gettysburg it definately adds to the experience to stay at a B&B. We stayed at the Brickhouse Inn on one of our visits and can't say enough about the hospitality. The decor was beautiful. The breakfast was to die for. Can't get that peach French toast out of my mind. There were always warm cookies waiting every evening. The kids loved that! The location is perfect, it is within walking distance of most everything. Another favorite thing of mine was the mattress. I don't think I ever had a better night sleep!! I would recommend this B&B to everyone. Book early though, we missed out the last time we went because all the rooms were booked.
