“To state it simply--this is a great B&B!”
Reviewed 23 May 2010

We just stayed two wonderful nights in Gettysburg at The Brickhouse Inn. We lodged in the beautiful Delaware room in the historic "Welty House" section of the Inn (right next to an outside wall still pockmarked with bullet holes from Confederate sharpshooters!). I don't know if I can add to the superlatives that other reviewers have stated about The Brickhouse Inn and the gracious owners and hosts Tess and Brian, but here goes: simply put--this is a great B & B!! The roses surrounding the Inn were in fragrant , heavenly bloom (like the honeysuckles were in full bloom in "Devil's Den" at the very nearby Battlefield) and the gardens behind the Inn were quiet, peaceful, and beautifully landscaped. It's a short walk to a range of good casual and fine dining choices up the nearby streets ("J's at the Village" was good) or in the historic town center (The Pub was very good for casual dining or drinks al fresco). And from the Inn it's a short stroll to Cemetary Hill, Culp's Hill, and the National Cemetary where Lincoln delivered the Address, as well as a short car or bike ride to the other important sites of the battlefield and The Visitor's Center (the film and Cyclorama are must sees). And if ghost tours float your psychic boat or gift shops satisfy your consumer cravings--there are lots of choices along Baltimore St. and nearby Steinwehr Ave. But back to the B &B! We have stayed at many B & B's all over the States and this ranks as one of the best. The sweet /savory breakfasts were excellant, the afternoon cookies were creative and tasty , the room lovely ,and the hosts were very gracious and informative about where to eat and what to do in and around Gettysburg. It's been 30 years (!!!) since our last visit to Gettysburg, but after our stay at the Brickhouse Inn we are looking forward to returning soon and staying at this wonderful Inn.

My wife and I stayed at the Brickhouse for three nights and were not disappointed. It is centrally located in Gettysburg for local shops and restaurants and the main square is just a short walk away. The B&B is immaculate and everything is done to a high standard and the owners obviously take a great deal of pride in the place. The breakfasts were excellent and meant that you didn't need to eat a great deal for the rest of the day! This is one of the best places we have stayed at and I wouldn't hesitate to come back. If you want good quality accommodation in Gettysburg then this is it. Try a tour of the battlefields with a registered guide who drives you around in your car. It is well worth it and then make sure you go to the new visitors' centre where the battlefield experience drops into place and makes a great deal of sense.

We stayed 3 nights at the Brickhouse Inn and didn't want to leave! Brian and Tessa are very hospitable innkeepers who make every attempt to make sure that you are enjoying your stay and that you getting to see all the very best that Gettysburg has to offer. The house is immaculate, the furnishings are beautiful and the food is just delicious! It has a great location and we were able to walk to all the local shops, restuarants and many historic sites as well. We would definitely stay here again and visit Lancaster, Hersey and DC on our next visit.

My husband and I frequent Gettysburg, especially for the weekend of our anniversay. This was the first time we've stayed at the Brickhouse. I have to sy it was probably the best B&B we have every stayed in! We were greeted warmly when we arrived, shown to our room which was beautiful! Breakfast was delicious, apple pancakes the first morning and an egg quiche the second. I loved the location, withing walking distance to almost everything(tour center shops ect). This will be the place I will be staying at from now on!!!

Do you dream of sleeping in a beautiful room where the outside brick wall on your private balcony have the bullet scars from the Civil War? How about relaxing in a shaded garden with iced tea and cookies in the late afternoon? Does it sound appealing to start your day off with a delicious homemade full breakfast served to you on a lovely brick patio listening to the bubbling water feature nearby?
Even more awaits you at the Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast. Your hosts, Brian and Tess, are friendly, outgoing people who can give you pointers on sightseeing, local events, and great food in Gettysburg. We had the pleasure of staying in the Kentucky Suite during our vacation and found the location of the Brickhouse Inn to be perfect in every way.
Having pre-arranged a private bike tour for the battlefield was certainly a highlight for us and I would recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing history moving thru each day's battles.
We will be encouraging our friends and families to explore the significant role Gettysburg played in American history and to without a doubt make the Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast their home base.

My husband and I spent this weekend at the Brickhouse Inn and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Brian and Tessa are the most hospitable hosts and go out of their way to make guests' visits special. We were extremely impressed with how beautiful the B&B was, its central location, and how great the food and service were. Breakfast was served on the patio, a delicious meal with table service and special details. We were celebrating my parents' 40th anniversary and we asked them for a lot of assistance in helping us to make it a surprise, including hiding a cake and making separate reservations for dinner and a ghost tour for an extra guest, my brother, who joined us late as a surprise to my parents, while keeping it a secret from my parents, who made the original reservations. They also kept a cake for us that we brought, and provided everything we needed to serve the cake out on the patio for my parents. They were the most accommodating and gracious hosts, and we could not have asked for a better experience! We highly recommend the Brickhouse for anyone visiting Gettysburg!

We can't say enough about Brian, Tessa, and our visit at the Brickhouse Inn. We were originally scheduled to stay at the inn over Valentine's Day weekend, however, the weather did not cooperate with us. Brian worked with us to reschedule the visit for April and the visit was well worth the wait. The location of the Bed & Breakfast was within walking distance to downtown Gettysburg and Brian was very helpful with suggesting places to dine. The rooms were cozy and well kept. The breakfast was delicious and hearty. I highly recommend the Brickhouse Inn and we plan to visit again.
