“Great B&B”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

My daughter and I stayed here on our latest trip to Gettysburg.. The hosts Todd and Christine and of course their dog Molly couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating.. We stayed in the attic room and Todd was kind enough to carry my suitcase up the stairs ( Thank you Todd).. He was so full of info. about the Battle of Gettysburg and didn't hesitate to answer our questions. We didn't meet Christine till breakfast on our last morning but we found her to also be very friendly and helpful.. The breakfasts are out of this world yummy and very satisfying.. I also wanted to mention that the B&B is located right on the battlefield and close to all attractions. Our room and bath were meticulously clean and comfortable.. The attic room is supposed to be haunted and I did have a visitor one night that let me know their presence by knocks on my headboard and some gentle touches.. I also wanted to add one last thing, the private bathroom for our room was down one flight of stairs so if you are handicapped or adverse to stairs you may want one of the other rooms.. All in all , it was a wonderful stay and we will be back!!

We didn't get to meet Christine but Todd was a excellent host! We will definitely tell friends and family to visit this Inn! We were very comfortable and really enjoyed our time at the Doubleday Inn. Thanks Todd! :)

We have visited twice and cannot wait to go back! Christine, Todd, and Molly offer an exceptional respite with amazing views. The Doubleday Inn is rich in history itself, in an amazing location right on the battlefield and minutes from downtown. Even though you are right on the battlefield you never feel like there is too much traffic nor too much noise. The breakfast are delicious and generous, always using local ingredients whenever possible. The eggs and milk are delivered from a local farmer! My favorite breakfast spot is the smaller table in front of the picture window to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and wildlife! There are cookies, instant coffee and tea available in the afternoon to welcome you back from sightseeing too. A water cooler, ice machine and wineglasses are available for folks to use as well. We readily use the wineglasses to enjoy our purchases from Adams County Winery while sitting out in the adirondack chairs! Todd and Christine are a wealth of knowledge and readily offer great suggestions for making the most of your Gettysburg stay from the parks, museums, local food, and even antietam national battlefield. During peak times of the year they have a local battlefield guide visit one night a week to offer insight and answer questions for guest. I really enjoyed this on our first stay!
Our favorite room is the Iverson as it has generous views, is spacious and done in my favorite colors. We have peaked in several of the other rooms and they are true to the website pictures! The rooms are immaculate, and well appointed with plush towels, and toiletries.

On our recent American Civil War tour we were delighted to stay at the Doubleday Inn which is right on the Gettysburg battle site. It was an amazing experience lying in bed and being able to look at the battle site in both directions. Wow! Unfortunately we did not meet Christine, but Todd was a gracious host, keen to ensure that our stay was beneficial both in accommodation and our enjoyment of Gettysburg. We were charmed by our stay there and even managed to get great amusement from one of our fellow guests, who managed, in one conversation, to confirm all the prejudices one hears about the Tea Party! But thank you, Todd, for your kindness and hospitality. It was greatly appreciated.

Room Tip: The Iverson was VERY special if you are interested in the American Civil War!

I stayed 2 nights and 3 days here in this delightful B&B in Gettysburg. I love Gettysburg, and staying on the battlefield certainly added to the ambiance. The setting is quiet and peaceful within surrounding trees. The Iverson room was cozy, warm, inviting, spacious, and clean. It seems as though it's the room with the best view :) I had an opportunity to check out the other rooms, and Iverson is hands down the best room :) The breakfasts were exceptional, filling, and scrumptious-especially the carmel french toast ;) Had an opportunity to meet Todd and Molly, of course. I aprreciated Todd's knowledge of the battle of Gettysburg and loved the stories he told. Thank you for your warm hospitality. I plan to return again someday soon :)

My girlfriend and I have stayed here twice, both times in October or 2012 and 2013. If you want to stay at a place that is relevant to the history of Gettysburg, this is the place. It only enhances your experience, as it is right on the battlefield and in a quiet, peaceful country setting. The owners, Todd, Christine, and their dog Molly, are wonderful to be around. These people make it an amazing experience. They are amazing hosts that every B&B should have. They're extremely friendly, conversational (just the right amount), historically knowledgeable, and accommodating. When you leave, it feels like you made new friends.
The breakfast is awesome. Last October, we stayed for 4 nights/5 days, and in no way did that breakfast fail. The view, the morning sun coming through the windows, the atmosphere, and friendly chatter among guests make this place the greatest we've ever stayed at. That's not just B&B's, either.
Gettysburg has become one of my most favorite places to go and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. If it were closer, we'd go back on weekends.
Wake up to the smell of breakfast. Go for a morning walk around the battlefield. enjoy the wildlife (hawks, deer, birds), or relax outside with a bottle of wine. But DO NOT forget to pet Molly. She's a sweetheart!

Room Tip: All rooms are great. We took a look at them all. Our fave is the Iverson Room because it has views o...

We just visited the Doubleday in Gettysburg and it was absolutely wonderful! Christine and Todd, the owners, were so friendly and helpful. Our room was large and comfortable. Our meals were so tasty, and the anytime coffee, tea, etc., was a special treat. It was like being home. No doubt we will stay there again!
