What a great place! It was a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! When you enter the restaurant you are greeted by beautiful artwork. The tables and chairs, wall art and even the bathrooms are painted beautifully and tastefully. Then there's the FOOD! The lasagna is the best I have ever eaten and for dessert, OMG, the pecan cake is to die for! Overall, this was a great experience. The owners are friendly and the staff were great. Authentic Italian food at good prices!

I saw La Bella Vita for the first time in early OCT while driving by during a workday, and my wife and I traveled over from Gallup (approx 60 miles) a few days later just to try the new venue. My wife's favorite food is Italian and so an hour's drive is worth it to find good Italian food. THIS PLACE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! The venue itself is very nice with the feeling and appearance of Italy, and one can tell that great care was taken in the decor and artwork. Even the restrooms are decorated beautifully. The food is exquisite, and the owner and chef were very gracious in coming out to our table and greeting us and telling us about the venue, the ingredients and the care in food preparation. They were very careful to make sure that we were enjoying our dining experience. The Executive Chef trained directly in Italy and so the food is quite genuine and very tasty. My wife enjoyed a glass of fine wine and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Needless to say, I was her hero that day for taking her to a great restaurant where she could fully enjoy her favorite food. We will be going many more times. We recently were in Albuquerque and dined at a well-known expensive Italian restaurant and both agreed that it did not match the food at La Bella Vita! The bottom line is that smaller towns do not usually have this type of quality eatery. Make time to visit and you will not be disappointed!

We live in Grants and are thrilled to have such a wonderful, authentic Italian restaurant right here. I tried the delicious lasagna with meat - great salad and bread come with each entrée. My husband had the shrimp scampi and was also thrilled. The serving sizes are so big that we were able to take doggie bags and have 2 more meals from the leftovers. We will go here again and again.

La Bella Vita was one of the outstanding experiences of a three week cross-country trip! Who would have ever dreamed that there would be a gourmet Italian restaurant in the small town of Grants, New Mexico. The building's interior and exterior (a former jail / firehouse / school) now is a charming renovation by the new co-owners, Angela and Jim. The food was outstanding as mentioned in earlier reviews, but what was most unique was Chef David, a Native American, after training in the culinary arts, apprenticed in an authentic Italian restaurant in California and then honed his art in Italy! Ask to meet Chef David and the owners to hear the whole story of how all the pieces came together to complete this amazing restaurant. Allow time to purse all the rooms to see Angela's art work. If you are traveling like us and can't get a "doggie bag" for the leftovers from the more than generous portions, ask that they be given to Angela's babies outback. If you are really lucky you may get to meet them!
My Sicilian sweetheart / S.O. / partner / boyfriend /or whatever Senior Citizens are, gave David's training and food 5 Stars! All ingredients are fresh and all dishes are made fresh daily.
This restaurant and experience is well worth a special detour if you are in New Mexico or just passing through!
Thank you to Jim, Angela, Chef David, and all the friendly staff!

While travelling west on I-40 through northwestern New Mexico last Saturday, we took a detour off the boring old Interstate onto historic Route 66 down the main drag of Grants, looking for a good place to eat. To our great fortune we stumbled upon a new little place called La Bella Vita. From the outside, it was the freshest and cleanest looking place in town, and it drew us in. On the inside we were met with a very friendly staff and a wonderfully bright and cheery interior, obviously done with love by a very talented proprietress. And the food ... OH the food! Rosemary-infused garlic butter on the dense and fresh Italian bread ... a superb, rich, deep and complex marinara on the sausage lasagna. (The proprietress told us her husband had been perfecting that marinara for the past 30 years, and one taste testified to the veracity of that claim.) My S.O. had the eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti topped with the same wonderful marinara -- she remarked that the delicate eggplant flavor came through fresh and clean, and the marinara complemented it perfectly. We were told that the Alfredo sauce was as good - if not better - than the marinara, so we'll just have to order that next time. The portions were so generous that we had no room for dessert, so we're going to have to make a return trip just for that experience! So if you're travelling between Flagstaff and Albuquerque, or if you're visiting any of the many Native American sites or natural wonders in the area, be SURE to plan on having lunch and/or dinner here!
