We met a group of family here for a mini reunion. We were seated quickly, the dining room has a nice ambiance. From the beginning, we could tell that our waitress was overwhelmed, unsure if she was just learning, or if the amount of tables was too much.

We ordered a bottle of wine, which was properly decanted at our request. Appetizers and salads were served quickly...I recommend the lentil soup! Dinner entree was swordfish, which was cooked properly, not overcooked as it so often is. Other entrees at the table included steak and chicken, all of which got good reviews.

We got multiple desserts to share. They were all great. The most inventive one was a collection of New York sweets, included a black and white cookie, egg cream, etc. with a printed explanation. Fun.

I have found that the CIA gets tested when it is busy. If you have the flexibility, visit during the week. We enjoyed it, however.

Went to the CIA for the fourth time this past Saturday. Food is great. That is why you go! Service needs some fine tuning. But these students are not meant to be servers. That being said, manager himself should have a little more control of what is going on around him. He seemed a little clueless of his surrondings. When paying 225.00 for lunch, I did expect less mistakes.

We greatly enjoyed our dinner, the taste and creativity of the meal was excellent as was the service and ambiance, all the more exceptional that this was all done by students at the CIA.

This restaurant is one of four in the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park. This was our first time in the area and a friend had told us about the restaurants so we made a point of dining at American Bounty. Not a mistake; the meal and service was superb. It was fun talking to the students about the Institute and their goals. Exciting experience and will definitely dine here again.

We were not deterred by reviews mentioning uneven service and were not disappointed. We enjoyed a tour of the CIA prior to this dinner. The restaurants's room is a showplace of the CIA (a former monastery) and we had a lovely deuce. (If I had the option of installing lights in the beautifully- fountained courtyard I would do so, thereby giving the nighttime diners something to look out at).
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ardent attentions of our servers. It's good that they learn about the front of the house, in addition to learning to prepare meals. We really enjoyed the cheese course at the end of the meal, and a spur of the moment invitation to tour the kitchen.
Though a financial splurge, we would definitely return when in the area.
