“CIA incredible meal & experience.”

Recommendations by our server were spot on - the invite into the kitchen was a bonus.
One short rib meal was very fatty, the other was perfect.

“Amazing Food! Want to try the other restaurants now”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

My wife and I are food fanatics and traveled to the CIA to try the American Bounty restaurant. Students did a great job! The foie gras app and sausage & sauerkraut apps were fantastic, very clean flavors and not heavy at all. The Short Rib dinner & Chicken dinner were also amazing. The KNK chicken was the tastiest I've had, very different from normal restaurant chicken. Mushroom sauce was perfect. Wine pairings were spot on. Dessert was a highlight, very well-crafted. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant as well. I booked through open table and typed that dinner was for our anniversary. They actually remembered and gave us a "Happy Anniversary" special complementary dessert which was a really unexpected, nice touch! Would definitely go back.

“An experience not to be missed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

My husband and I and several friends have eaten at American Bounty many times. We have never been disappointed in any way. The students are delightful to talk with. The presentation is beautiful and food is beyond delicious. They even have gluten free bread/rolls and meal opptions for GF diets. Just call ahead so they can tell the chefs. Then when you get there tell your waiter. You can even watch through glass windows the making of there beautiful desserts. Lunch is very reasonable.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

We made reservations for lunch at American Bounty. The servers did a decent job, but the food was unmemorable. I ordered the roast beet salad which was artfully plated, but so bland that I had to add salt. My friend ordered a Caesar salad. It didn’t look anything like what was expected. The Romaine lettuce was threaded through a cut-out hole of a puff pastry. A tip of 17% is automatically added whether you thought the service and food was good or not. I recommend skipping this restaurant and going next door to Apple Pie Bakery Café.

“Rewarding Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

While on a quick trip to the Hudson Valley we were able to get a dinner reservation for the American Bounty Restaurant, part of the Culinary Institute's chain of campus restaurants. Students prepared and served our meal while we pelted them with questions about their studies and experiences. We realize that each experience will be different because we learned that every three weeks new students rotate through each restaurant but our experience was delicious and delightful.

We also learned the menus change fairly often and what we had seen online prior to arriving was no longer on our menu. Having said that, what we ate was wonderful. For a starter we tried the pureed leek soup...YUM! Next we ordered the sea bass. Portions were very small but done beautifully with a combination of mushrooms, dried tomatoes, baby artichokes, etc. underneath the fish that was exquisite. We finished with coffee and one of their chocolate desserts which had banana ice cream and a pina colada dessert with pineapple ice cream that tasted like the real thing. We also and a glass of wine and their rolls that were attractive and very good.

Food was pricey with no tipping allowed but a written notice that a 17% fee would be added onto the bill to be used for scholarships, etc. We felt the experience was definitely worth the fees. The students were attentive and ready to answer any of our questions which made this a very unique experience we highly recommend.
