We only spent one night there, but we will be back. This was our first stay in a bed and breakfast. The location was beautiful. Our hosts were so accommodating and friendly. The room was very cute with the most comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic. We look forward to returning soon. In addition I felt it was a great value.

We recently spent two nights at the Inn the Woods B&B. We stayed in the Treetop Suite, a large apartment-sized room occupying the entire upper floor of the B&B. Although Inn the Woods is located close to major local attractions (Roosevelt and Vanderbilt mansions, and the Culinary Institute), it is away from traffic on a pleasant heavily wooded site. Our room had large windows on all sides, offering a relaxing "treetop" experience. Breakfasts were prepared by innkeeper Valerie, and were excellent. My only words of caution are for those who are heavy set. The shower stall is small, and may not be comfortable for larger folks. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay when in Hyde Park. Also, several good nearby restaurants in town to choose from.
By the way, the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt mansions are operated by the National Park Service; and its park passes allow free entry for four people. And for senior citizens, you can purchase NPS lifetime Golden Eagle passes on site for less than it would cost to purchase an entry ticket!

The innkeepers at Inn of the Woods care so very much about the experience they give to their guests. They attend carefully to details and are rightfully proud of what they do. The result is a very comfortable and home-like experience that deserves the highest praise. They have thought of everything and will do whatever you can imagine to make your stay pleasant. I found it a plus that their place is just far enough from the main little highway (route 9) so you truly have a sense of being away. You won't miss with this place.
Only two rooms so book ahead.

We went for a weekend getaway to see the FDR and Vanderbilt mansions and the presidential library. (great attractions)
I found this fabulous B & B online, and I got a 20% discount for booking six months ahead of time.

We stayed in the "Treetop" suite, 500 square feet, including two full beds, a futon couch, a chair with ottoman, a table for two and a kitchenette . There was also a large full bath. An ethernet connection was available. The exterior walls are completely windows that look out at trees and rock formations, and you truly feel as if you are in the trees.

The place is immaculate and I felt quite pampered.

The breakfast is cooked by Val and Harry, the owners. It is beautifully presented on lovely china, and the food is gourmet. The menu may not be to everyone's liking, as it is not your ordinary fare. Examples of the delicious food are baked peach with yogurt, turkey sausage, and vegetable soufflee. The menu varies daily. Jams, syrups and juices are homemade.

Val and Harry were delightful and we enjoyed talking with them.

If you go to Hyde Park, indulge in the Treetop suite. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I (as well as another couple) just stayed a weekend at Inn The Woods. What a perfect weekend getaway! As we drove up it was snowing, which just added to the idyllic state.
We stayed 2 nights in the Treetop Suite (our friends took the Cliffside Room) and we were thrilled. Every little detail had been thought of - down to wine glasses and a corkscrew in our room. The mini fridge was stocked with bottled water, there was a selection of teas and coffee that could be made, not that we needed anything else after the way we ate that weekend! There was even a large bookshelf stocked with video and DVD movies, as well as a large selection of boardgames - it was perfect!
Our bathroom was stocked with shampoo, soap, lotion, and plenty of towels, as well as bathrobes, which were perfect when we used the outside jacuzzi late Saturday afternoon. That part was really wonderful.
But the best part was the food - the breakfasts both mornings were out of this world - Harry and Valarie are excellent hosts, and you really feel like they want you to have just the best breakfast ever. The ginger scones were amazing, and I don't even care for scones - and the apple walnut muffins were to die for.
If you're looking for great dinners, we ate at Terrapin in Rhinebeck, and at An American Bounty and L'Escoffier, both at the Culinary Institute. All meals were outstanding.
Inn The Woods was a wonderful B&B and there is no doubt we will return. Valarie and Harry are so friendly, and everything about our stay was top-notch.

There are two types of B&Bs, each favored by different crowds. Some like the feeling of being at a home away from home, sharing someone's house as though part of the family. Others like a more luxurious stay, intimate yet private. The hosts at Inn the Woods were very nice and the breakfast was delicious, but it felt very much like being in someone's home (which we weren't expecting). They have rooms both with private and shared baths; the non-private bath is shared with the owners' daughter. The house is comfortable and clean with a beautiful wooded hill out the window, but it felt a lot like being in our own home, which is not what we were looking for.
