Nothing negative to say about this place. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast/snack room was well supplied and generous, all was fine. No, it's not a fancy resort but these days, just finding an independent doing all the basic things right in a reasonably priced motel is getting more and more rare, so this was a real pleasure. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were in the smallest room, because I messed up when making our reservation, and it was just fine...

Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and liked our smaller Rustic room. It is a lower cost alternative to a Deluxe room. Yet, it has its own unique charm with the knotty pine walls but also a modern flatscreen TV and mini fridge. Hope you will come to see us again. -Karen

This motel is the old fashioned type one might skip when looking for a night's rest but, it was clean, neat, extremely affordable and they have a room where a continental breakfast is included. In addition, one may get coffee or popcorn from the room anytime day or night. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff was nice, too.

We chose this motel based on the tripadvisor reviews and on the price. We were not disappointed; very clean and renovated rooms, comfy beds, plenty of space, great location for historic sites. The free breakfast is served in an immaculate "coffee shop". The atmosphere of the motel and the town is fun and relaxed, family-oriented.

I really can't add a lot to the previous reviews except that I want to give a 5 star rating too! And just add a couple of my own comments.

My sister and I have been talking for several years about visiting this area. This year we finally made a plan. I selected this motel based on its high TA rating and very reasonable prices for the area. It did not disappoint! Yes, it's an older place, but it has been totally and lovingly refurbished. I like staying at independent motels when I can but often the refurbishment consists of new paint, paper and carpeting with crumbling wall and not so nice bathrooms. Not here! One can tell the rooms must have been gutted and totally redone. The rooms are really large and comfy. The bathroom has new tiling . We had an extra sink in the alcove outside the bathroom--I wondered whether there was a kitchenette there in the motel's previous life (not that we needed or wanted one with all the excellent food nearby).

One update that I particularly appreciated was the number of electrical outlets--I've stayed at places (even fairly new ones) where I found it hard to find enough outlets for multiple phone chargers, battery chargers, computers, etc.--there was no shortage here. Also, as requested, we were on the 1st floor and if there was anyone staying above us, we didn't hear them--not even footsteps --or our side neighbors (I know we had them!). .

We were also enchanted by the retro "Coffee Shop"--obviously also lovingly restored-- where breakfast was served, but coffee, tea, ice, and a microwave were available 24/7. Even tho we didn't take advantage of it, we thought the microwave popcorn was a fun twist.

The family running this wonderful place has obviously not run out of steam--they are great hosts! Any little question/problem was taken care of immediately. The rooms were immaculately clean and well-taken care of. Thanks for the great hospitality! We'll be back since we have some more things to do in the area.

Thank you for that thorough review! Our Deluxe rooms have had some recent updates-- furnishing, electrics and lighting-- glad you noticed. It helps that we have a 'winter break' each year as well where all rooms are offline and we can take each one through a maintenance checklist and refresher (paint, shampooing, etc.). We are happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back soon! -Karen

Charming from the outside and on the inside. When we pulled up we were charmed by the setting; it's outward appearance is a 1940's type motel with a second floor on one part, a charming office that runs out of the house, plus the neon-lettered sign for both the motel and the coffee shop, which is for guests only. We like older properties. We checked in quickly and received great tips for the area, then trotted off to our second floor room. Opening the door revealed a pleasant surprise. While I love the retro-look, even if it is original furnishings, this room had jumped decades ahead and was beautifully updated with modern fixtures, an amazingly comfortable bed, and a large comfy chair and ottoman. A larger sink with ample counter space was by the wardrobe, plus there was a sink in the bathroom. Very convenient. In the morning breakfast options are available in the coffee shop, which seems to be all original furnishings (I love that!). Breakfast is self-serve and offers pastries, bagels, cereal, fruit, juices, and on two mornings, waffles. Of course, there is coffee and tea. What's nice about the coffee shop is you have access at any time, so if you want popcorn at night, you can pop up some in the microwave. (They provide the popcorn.) Above all, this place was clean, clean, clean. After a day of sightseeing, we were glad to come back to our little retreat. The hotel is close to all Roosevelt sites, and you can walk to the Vanderbilt's if you'd like. If we are ever in the area again we will stay here.

Thank you for taking time to write such a thorough review! We are thrilled to hear you had a nice stay and liked our 'retro' motel. If you like older, yet refurbished attractions, Hyde Park has it all--- the vintage neon diner down the street (Eveready), the roller rink, the drive-in movie theater, plus the historic trails, the zip line, and the new mini-golf course! Come back and visit us soon! -Karen

We enjoyed our stay at the Roosevelt Inn and will most likely be back. The inn is clean and has a cute coffee shop where there is a free breakfast. The location is great if you want to visit the CIA (Culinary Institute of America -- just a few miles on the same road!) and other sights in Hyde Park.

We really enjoyed our stay except for two things... The wifi was not working while we were there + the breakfast got cleaned up /removed just after we arrived (about 20 minutes before the stated time that breakfast ended). Luckily we got there in time to get some food..

Still, a good, clean place -- with fast check-in / check-out.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the wireless troubles...we had upgraded the network and installed three new access points with boosters a couple of weeks ago. There were a few glitches in that the router was not communicating properly with the access points. The problem has been ironed out and I am happy to say the wireless network's awesome now with thorough reach for all our rooms. Thank you S&F Technologies!

As for the breakfast breakdown, we will watch the clock more closely to make sure it does not happen again. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! We hope to see you next time you are in the area. -Karen

My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary in Hyde Park touring the historic sites there. We stayed at the Roosevelt Inn(motel really) and I can't say enough good things about it. Checking in was a breeze and Karen (owner?) was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the historic sites, restaurants, etc. Our room was on the second floor . Queen size bed in a spacious room, two sinks, one of which was outside the bathroom which made it very convenient . The price of the room was reasonable and not like the high priced bed and breakfasts in the area. I loved that our room key gave us access to the Coffee Shop which was on premise and used only for the guests. The location of the Roosevelt Inn was within walking distance of the Vanderbuilt Mansion and a variety of mom and pop stores. Right across the street was the Catholic Church Regina Coeli for daily and weekend masses. But what put this over the top for us was when I got home and realized I left very important articles of clothing in the room and I called Karen and she is going to mail them back to me. How nice is that!! I would definitely return to Hyde Park and stay here and I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
