Just an exceptional experience all around – fantastic themed rooms and amazing breakfasts. Each morning was something different and delicious. So good that we re-booked in for an additional night – well worth the premium.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a wonderful review. We were glad to be able to provide you with an additional night - most guests are surprised at how much there is to do in the area that they often need to come back. You were truly quality guests too!

In the Hudson Valley for a few days this Inn was a the first of a few good decisions. The location was perfect. Directly across the street from the Vanderbuilt Mansion the Inn was down the road from everything Roosevelt in one direction and Rhinebeck in the other. Valerie was delightful to deal with and served great breakfasts. We looked forward to sitting with like minded guests each morning sharing our tales from the road. I highly recommend.

And thank you, thank you, thank you! We love having the Vanderbilt gardens and views just across the street - a wonderful way to wake-up or end your day with a stroll on those beautiful grounds. Our guests do love our family-style breakfasts - because all our guests are so interesting. We truly enjoyed having you and so appreciate the recommendation.

Journey Inn is a B&B that is very well maintained and immaculate. The beds are comfortable and linens are plentiful. There are 2 gracious rooms to relax, read, or watch TV. Most of the time, conversations were taking place among the guests. The breakfast table, set in a spacious bright room, was beautifully set with delicious servings of sautéed plums with Italian cream cheese or yogurt followed by a plentiful main dish that varied each day. Valerie, the Inn keeper was always asking for dietary restrictions to prepare for the next day. Along with her dad, Victor, Valerie always had juice, freshly brewed coffee, and evening cookies ready for the guests. We stayed in English country Suite which provided a sitting area, king bed, additional single, dressing area and bathroom. There was plenty of light from all the windows. The Journey Inn is directly across from Vanderbilt Mansion and in close proximity to Roosevelt's home, Valkill,CIA, and the town of Rhinebeck where there are so many wonderful shops and restaurants. Cheers and bravo to Valerie and Victor with whom I shared childhood memories of "Down Neck."

It was so fun to have someone from the "old neighborhood" - my Dad was so excited. We are lucky to have my parents working with us - and it is nice to have the multiple generations around - for me and our guests. We do have such wonderful guests - and often, the conversations are so animated - as they were when you were here. Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Say hi to Naples for us!

We had a wonderful time. We stayed in the metro room. It was cozy and on the small side, but had everything you need (q-tips, hair dryer, night light, etc.). The living room was nice to relax in and there were soft drinks, water, tea and coffee, cookies and chocolates! The location was fantastic, right across the street from the Vanderbilt mansion! The breakfasts were very yummy! We went to the culinary institute one night and Rhinebeck the other. I highly recommend both. It was a perfect get away.
Thank you Valerie!

Thank you - we had a wonderful time sitting and chatting with you over wine (which we encourage our guests to bring along - we supply bottle openers and glasses) and discussing polynomial equations in two variables ;-). We are so happy you enjoyed your birthday weekend and had such great meals. You were the perfect guests for your perfect get away.

Valerie was kind enough to allow us 1 night for our 21st anniversary and we're glad she did.
Valerie will greet you and show you around... bring you up to your room and make you feel right at home.
We stayed in the Kyoto room which was a bit small and had the private bathroom across the hall. Asian influence and very neat and clean. If you're looking for a larger room... The English Country Suite may be what you want. (We looked in while the room was being made up.)
Breakfast was amazing with tartan french toast/ sautéd apples and Taylor ham! No syrup needed! SO very good.
Journey's Inn is right across the street from the Vanderbuilt mansion... which we also visited. Pretty interesting too.
We look forward to coming back soon.

Thank you for mentioning the Taylor Ham! We love sharing that incredible New Jersey delicacy with our guests. So happy you were able to spend your anniversary with us. We do have a two night minimum but we always ask folks to call us just in case we can offer a one night stay - so glad you called. We look forward to having you back so you can see the rest of the area. Thank you for taking the time to offer such a nice review.

We were on a well-planned week-long B&B Cape Cod driving tour but for our one no-reservation night we had a sudden whim to visit the Culinary Institute. Luckily we found that the Journey Inn had one room available for one night only, so we grabbed it up. The location was lovely and we drove around the Vanderbilt Estate (right across the street!) before we went off to dinner. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed meeting the other guests in the morning. Innkeeper Valerie was gracious and helpful as well. We'd stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: The Kyoto room has a private bathroom, but it's across the hall from the bedroom. You get your o...

We were lucky to have you as guests too. Thank you for your last minute reservation! The main reason we have a one seating breakfast is that we have such interesting guests and everyone seems to enjoy the very animated conversations. Even if you have a very limited time here - having the Vanderbilt Estate across the street allows anyone to enjoy the beautiful grounds and amazing Hudson river views. Thanks for taking the time to let us know much your enjoyed your stay.

First the good stuff. The Inn is in a fantastic position, directly across form the Vanderbilt Mansion and within easy reach of both the Culinary Institute of America and the Roosevelt sites. The house itself is immaculate, with wonderfully welcoming, spacious and beautifully appointed public rooms, where coffee, cold drinks and reading material were always on tap. Our welcome was efficient, positive and informative.
We stayed one night in the Metro room, as it was the only room left.
Valerie had warned us it was a small room, and she was right! Queen size bed, nowhere really to put our suitcases, and a bathroom so compact you could hardly move! Only one proper pillow, small towels, and our main moan, shared by other guests, air conditioning which could not be controlled individually, set far, far too cold. We felt this room was priced higher than its size and amenities offered and it was on the expensive side.
We were a little unhappy at being commanded to be ready for breakfast at exactly 8.30, and while we had no objections to eating 'family style' we felt that along with "check-in between 4.00 and 6.00pm" was a little rigid and inflexible.
A near miss for us I'm afraid, but a delightful house just make sure you have a decent sized room

And we are sorry you didn't have anything less than a perfect stay. We appreciate your providing feedback - it is always good to hear how we can provide better service. I want to clarify a few things for future guests however: we are very flexible. As you mentioned, breakfast is served at one seating. We tell guests this when they book so if this is not something they enjoy, they can choose not to stay with us. However, we are flexible and will have earlier seatings for those guests that need to get an early start - guests just have to let us know. For guest leaving very early, there is always beverages and cereal - and often baked goods. In addition, if guests choose to come down later, we don't take their plates away - they can still have breakfast when they get up. As for our check-in time, we REQUEST a 4-6pm check-in so we can best manage our day. However, we tell guests that if we are here at the Inn and the room is ready - we do not have a problem with early check-in (we just can't guarantee it) and we are quite aware that not everyone can get here by 6pm so we ask if guests will be later so we are prepared and if it is quite late, we do have a very simple way for guests to do a self-check-in. Thank you again.
