“buget basics close to the airport”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2008

We used our "points" for a free night stay while waiting for our plane to leave. We only had to stay there for a few hours as our plane left very early. We could not open our door with our room key and it took the desk clerk 3 attempts to get it open and then decided to switch us. The rooms are very basic with a micro and fridge. The furniture was older but clean. The carpet fairly new. I would look for other accommodations first before staying again. But for using free points earned it was just barely ok. Diane

The night manager, Phillip, was entirely disrespectful of his guests and the rest of the staff seemed to absolutely HATE him. The FREE BREAKFAST was a cello-wrapped honey bun and coffee if you got there early enough, and you were NOT to leave the lobby with it. The FREE INTERNET was an old desktop available for 15 minutes. The FREE NEWSPAPER was only in the lobby, and the maid service was pittiful. We complained at the desk, and were told to leave, so we did just that. The one saving grace was Michelle, the day manager, who apologized for our smelly room and awful housekeeping. We were so embarrassed for her! I would not recommend this location.

There is absolutely no "early" check-in. 4:00PM is the only time they will let you check-in. We had to wait 4 hours for our room. Entering the room, it had been "straightened up". There was vomit on the nightstand next to the bed, the bathroom was close to a sesspool, the alarm clock/radio on the TV set didn't work, there was no telephone service in the room nor any coffee maker as promised. We checked out that same day and were refused a receipt by the desk clerk claiming she didn't know how to check-out people. But she wanted us to sign a paper that said we would pay for the room, which we declined. There is no Night Manager on duty. We spoke with the Day Manager the next day and she said we would have to pay for the one night becuase we "messed up the bedspread". No consideration was given about the vomit on the nightstand, the filthy bathroom, no alarm clock/radio, no telephone service and no coffee maker. Do not stay at this Rodeway Inn.

This hotel was disgusting! Thank goodness it was for one night. The room was filthy...don't dare walk with no shoes on. There was no running water, most of the outlets did not work, the sheets had pubic hair on them- had to sleep on other clothes. And customer care-????? Make sure you voice your opinion then. Do not bother with this hotel. Spend a little extra money even if it's for a flight lay over. You definitely get less than what you pay for.

I had a one-night stay at the Rodeway Inn for personal business. My next stay in Jax will be somewhere else...

Admittedly, I only paid $39 but here is what you get for that money:

Bad stuff:

1. Smoking room although I had asked for a non-smoking. (I asked if they had another, they did not) Everything I brought smelled of smoke.

2. Stains on the inside of the cover blanket. I know the rule of never using this blanket and i didn't, but if that is nasty, what else would I encounter 'between the sheets'.

3. Floors are probably never cleaned, so wear sox and/or shoes. I found the last guests receipts next to the nightstand in clear sight. In general the room was filthy, I was glad it was a one-night stay.

4. Burnmarks on everything from nightstand to sink and bathtub. Smokers are a considerable bunch aren't they.

5. No shampoo. Only soap. I was actually very surprised at this, I've never slept in a hotel with no shampoo :) (you should bring both)

6. There seemed to be many people with incomplete sets of teeth having a more or less permanent residence here. (One woman who's key didn't work, decided to keep banging on the door while screaming as if that was going to resolve the non-working key)

Good stuff:

1. Check-out was easy!

2. They somehow got a hold of my grandparents first TV. Very nostalgic.

3. There was a pool but I did not venture down to try it out.

As mentioned, you get what you pay for, and I went too cheap. Won’t happen again.

Bottom-line: No

There were 3 good things about the room-no smell of smoke inside room, clean sheets, and fast shuttle service to airport. Everything else was dirty. Crumbs on desk, carpet, dirty tub and sink, dead roach on bathroom floor, live roach in sink - sink smelt of roach. Back door was locked at 5 a.m. so it was scary to walk on wet grass, dragging luggage around building in the dark to front of building. This motel is probably not a choice motel for a female travelling alone(too many truckers hanging around smoking and drinking although not rowdy) who cares about cleanliness and who leaves early in the morning.
