“Convenient Location”

Good location - especially if you have doctor appointments at Mayo Clinic which is about 10 minutes away.

The staff is very friendly, professional, and accommodating.

Beds are very comfortable. For the most part, rooms are clean, but we found that the wallpaper in the bathroom had been overlooked and was in need of wiping down very badly. Also, the toilet had an odor about it.

Although the breakfast was included, it wasn't anything to brag about.

That being said, we would stay there again.

The hotel staff is VERY helpful. The rooms are clean. The work space is sufficient. All the rooms are suites and very economical.

As noted by other reviewers the design of the suites seems a bit dated. As you entered our suite, the desk and wet bar/fridge area was to the right and a chair and sleeper sofa on the left. Further into the room, a wall divided the entry area from the beds. The TV (looked to be about a 42” flat screen with many channels in HD) was in the middle and while the TV pivoted, it either had to be viewed from the sofa or the beds but could not be seen very well from both. Our room was on the first floor and as also noted by other reviewers, you could pretty easily hear noise from other rooms, including running water and people conversing. Our room looked out over the pool but the window was permanently fogged for the most part. The wireless Wi Fi was easy to connect to and operated at a decent speed. The breakfast area is small and was hopelessly overrun the morning of our stay. The location of the hotel is good as it is in a pleasant entertainment area with several restaurants, coffee shop and movie complex all within a short walk. We had stayed the previous two nights at the Hampton Inn which is adjacent (and nicer) but stayed at the SpringHill the third night because the room rate was $55 less than the Hampton. It was OK for a night but nothing at all special.

This was a good Marriott. We would definitely stay again.
Pros:
Great location. Walk to restaurants (Fridays and Jason's Deli - free ice cream!) and there is a very nice, extensive shopping area across the street.
Nice entry court with pavers, fountain, lovely, immaculate landscaping
Free paking
Very friendly and attentive desk clerk. Gave us popcorn to microwave.
Spotless breakfast area, lobby, and rooms
Pretty good free breakfast
Beds were comfortable - nice linens, pillows
Room was quiet
Suite was a good size and spotless, fresh smelling
Huge shower area with sink outside (Always welcome with more than one guest)
Heat worked well
Huge flat screen TV, nice picture
Cons (Please note - these are minor issues - They probably only bug me because I am trained as an architect and I do renovation)
The bath faucet leaked into the tub when the shower was on
The bathroom sink faucet handle worked fine, but flopped about and shut itself off when it was in certain positions
The TV placement was poor due to the room layout. It sat on a dresser placed on a wall between the sitting room and bedroom areas. To watch it you had to turn your head all the way to the left from the beds and to the right from the couch.
The beds faced a full length mirror and the sink area - not the TV!
Tip to Marriott - ALWAYS place the TV where guests can watch it from the bed. NEVER place a bed so the view is into a bathroom.
This is the second Marriott we stayed in in FLA that had lemon yellow walls - seemed to have no relationship to the color of the carpet and the sofa. Next redec - pick a nice neutral!
The wall art was bland and dated. It didn't complement what was otherwise a pretty nice suite.
Again, none of the above is a reason not to stay at this hotel. It was very nice, comfortable and clean. We had a very nice stay!

We are a seasoned visitor at the Jacksonville Marriott Springhill Suites/Deerwood having stayed at the hotel at least six times in the last two years when visiting family. Our most recent stay was a five night visit December 2011. The place has seriously gone downhill. The major things we noticed during this past stay were: (1) The rooms, hallways, stairwells and fitness center are NOT CLEAN. This was markedly noticeable especially in any public use areas. The fitness center equipment was filthy and when I went into the nearby restroom to get a paper towel with which to wipe down the equipment, the bathroom itself was terribly dirty. (2) Things just didn't work well - one day, we had no towels after the room was cleaned; another day clean sheets (we think) were left in our room after the housekeeping visit. Since the bed had been made, did they not change the sheets or did they forget them there. On three occassions during our six day stay, we had to call to ask for soap or tissues or other basic items that should have been restocked. One day, the room was askew after housekeeping had been there - the TV was turned, the furniture moved, someone's bluetooth device was left in the room, and our personal items had been rearranged. Let's just say, we don't believe it was due to thorough cleaning. (3) Breakfast has gone seriously downhill. It's not cool to serve brown bananas and week old bagels/pastries. (4) The printer in the business center would not work and the PCs there were especially slow.

All in all we could not wait to leave. Everything was just "off". Please note this is a very OLD Springhill Suites design and the rooms are just weird in their design. But that never bothered us before because this facility HAD BEEN a comfortable convenient place to retreat to after a long day with relatives. We'll look for somewhere different to stay next time. Too bad.

We stayed one night on a recent vacation trip and felt we got very good value for the rate we paid. The breakfast included prepared oatmeal, sausage, and scrambled eggs along with the usual items. The room was very clean and quiet. Their customer service was outstanding.

Room Tip: Request fifth floor room.

The service we received here was great, but there are some improvements that could be made. The rooms were very small for a suite with only one tv. For a couple this is not a problem, but with a family of 5, it is nice to have more than 1 tv. The beds were full sized, not queen, which made a tight squeeze for 2 adults. The breakfast buffet was sufficient, but pretty basic. Also the dining area needs to be larger. It was very crowded in there, especially during the 8am hour. Again the service and cleanliness were great. Sufficient accommodations for a few days, but nothing to write home about.
