Perfect place to stop and stretch little legs while sneaking in a learning if you are driving thru en route to one of the FL beaches or to entertain on a weekend visit. LOVED it!

This place is not what you would call a Museum. It is a place with very little real scientific displays or features. The history part is bizarre, and contains displays of old newspaper articles. overpriced.

Exhibits were good and easy to browse. The attendants were thoughtful and attentive. The museum honored our Cincinnati Museum Center membership so our visit was very economical.

We went on a week day when school was in session and practically had the museum to ourselves! The first floor had interesting exhibits about the human body, marine animals that migrate through NE FL, another room of wild animals such as owls and other creatures that inhabit the area, and a walk the gardens of plant life growing in the Jacksonville region. There is a planetarium on the second floor which we didn't visit, and interesting exhibits about the solar system. My favorite part of the museum was the third floor with the history of the city, including the rebuilding of Jacksonville after it was burnt down nearly completely in the past century. There was also an interactive area for children which we didn't visit since this was a vacation as a couple. There is elevator access and parking in a lot across the street. This is probably one of the best sights to visit while in Jacksonville for most anyone and I hope to return someday with our children.

Have you ever been to a science museum in a larger city? Then you've probably had an experience comparable to this museum. It's your typical science museum, with different exhibits for animals, weather, optics, etc. Many exhibits or pieces of exhibits are broken (again, typical for these types of museums). The thing that sets this one apart is an animal exhibit with interactive times where they will bring an animal out (on this visit they had 80 year old tortoises walking around) and a section specifically for the history and architecture of Jacksonville.
If you come on a Friday, admission is half off.
