We held our wedding reception here and loved it. Could not have been any better. Everything was amazing.

ok, I'm not in love with MOCA for the exhibits per se... the reason i really like it is everything else. MOCA is in a great location in down town Jacksonville. They have fantastic events, like summer movie classics and guest lectures. It's the cornerstone of Jacksonville's monthly Art Walk and usually have a great exhibit from the talent at UNF. And before I forget to mention them, the Parties are fantastic, especially New Years Eve.

Okay, so maybe it's not a great museum, but it does have a lot going for it besides exhibits (which vary). Cafe Nola is a terrific little restaurant inside the museum, which has lots of healthy and tasty options. The museum store is a great place to buy unique gifts. The kids' section is small, but engaging. It's right next door to the downtown (Main) library, which is also worth a visit, especially at Christmastime.

We have visited many art museums around the country. This visit was with my kids, ages 7 & 10. This is great little museum that would take you about an hour to go through. Keri, the front desk employee, made sure to take time talk to us about some pieces that we should avoid with the kids. Thank you for that Keri!! One was an interesting collection demonstrating Drug use in Omaha, Nebraska, and the other was a nude photograph (not appropriate viewing for young eyes). There are several key pieces like their beautiful feature mural in their atrium. We also appreciate the security guard (sorry I didn’t catch your name), who took time to explain the numbering of the Picasso painting to my 10 yr. daughter. She was highly interested in your discussion. The staff was friendly and the work was interested. There was also a beautiful Rainbow Artists exhibition on the top floor, in which the artwork was created by students with Autism. If you are in town and like contemporary/ modern art, I would recommend.

This museum offers an opportunity to understand modern artistic culture if you take the time to go to some of the lectures.
