“It's no Little Talbot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Big Talbot is worth seeing if you find yourself in the area.

Big Tal is wild. You have to walk about half a mile through a forest depending on where you park. When the trees finally open up you are dumped right on to bone beach, which looks kind of like the elephant graveyard in the Lion King. This is the most driftwood I've ever seen in one place.

The sand isn't as white as nearby beaches, and there's not much of a place to lay out or walk because of all of the driftwood. Neighboring Amelia, Little Talbot, and Hugenot all offer whiter beaches with more room to walk around, but it's worth the walk just to see all of the driftwood.

You can park by the road at either of the two entrances, and you drop off 3 dollars in a security box per vehicle. You get a tag for your window but it's kind of on the honor system. I've never seen anyone checking tags.

“Big Brother to Little”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

This is even better than Little Talbot Island. Nice paved bike trail, covered picnic area, gorgeous beach, with lots of oaks and over looks on the river. You got to see this place. Old Florida coast in its native natural condition.

“Four wheel needed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Not much in the way of facilities, but nature, ocean, sand, sunset, beautiful. Four wheel drive will get you out on the beach, up front and personal, but there is a parking lot that gets you walking access if you don't have the 4 wheeler. Lots of surf casting, fishing going on. Quiet, serene, peaceful and did I say, Beautiful?

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

We took the Black rock trail. It's about 1/2 mile walk to the driftwood beach. Go at low to mid tide. Go towards Amelia on the beach to the black rocks. Go towards Little Talbot on the beach to a brown rock beach. Lot of driftwood in between. All striking in the beauty. Nothing to eat nearby so take the ferry to Mayport for great seafood at Safe Harbor or Singletons.
