The path is paved and shaded for the majority of the ride, providing beautiful views and a break from the Florida sun. It's rarely crowded and there are plenty of places to stop off to the side and enjoy a packed lunch. A favorite activity in Jacksonville, be sure to bring plenty of water!

As an older bicycle rider I'm a big fan of Rails to Trails and have been on most of them around Florida. My favorite by far is the stretch of the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail that starts at its Camp Milton mid-point and goes on to Baldwin. Camp Milton is itself is a nice park with a boardwalk and benches on which you can picnic before setting off on the trail. The round trip is only about 14 miles and there are long stretches where your are going through a gorgeous tunnel of trees. There are only a few other trails of this type with such scenery, and none with so much. The other half of the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail is similar, but much more urban. If you do the whole trail you will have a 28 mile round trip along some of the best trail scenery to be found in Florida. Like all Rails to Trails, you are riding on a paved surface over what was an old railroad bed, so it is smooth riding and virtually flat. You can either be leisurely or go for a good workout, with only a small number of actual roads to cross.

I recently purchased a new bike. I learned about this trail from the bike shop. This is an excellent place to enjoy a bike ride. The terrain is mostly level. There are very few highways that need to be crossed. It is covered by trees for a large portion which makes for a more comfortable ride. Remember to bring plenty of water as water is limited along the way. There are several benches along the way if you decide to rest. This is my favorite trail.

I just bought a new road bike, and to learn to ride with clips this has been the perfect location. Very few roads to cross, usually with little traffic, then free and clear. People on the trail are always friendly and helpful. Great facility!

This is a paved 15 mile trail, with several interesting stops along the way. Lots of shade. Make sure you have plenty of water, especially if you start at the eastern trail head, you'll need to ride almost halfway before reaching a place to refill. It's a straight line ride on mostly flat terrain. just remember when you ride, that you have to ride back to the trailhead, 30 miles round trip if you do the entire length.
