Blue Bamboo is a pan-asian restaurant. Often that means bland pseudo-Asian food tailored to perceived American tastes. While I am not sure the cuisine is genuinely authentic to any one Asian country, it is not only stylistically Asian but, more importantly, it is very very good. The Chicken in Lettuce Wrap appetizer, with a hoisin flavor that is slightly tangy and perfectly cooked chicken pieces. The chicken curry main course featured perfectly tender chicken, a lovely sharp curry, and basmati rice. My companion had the shrimp curry with grit cakes and also thought it was terrific (apparently the fried grit cakes were a big improvement over regular grits). High quality ice cream for dessert. If you are looking for a truly authentic Thai, Chinese, or Vietnamese restaurant, this is probably not the place. But if you are looking for imaginatively conceived dishes in an Asian style, superbly prepared and presented, then I can recommend this as one of the best restaurants in the Jacksonville area.
