Four stars may be stretching this review a tad as the hike in itself wasn't all that noteworthy. We live here in Jacksonville, frequent the parks and we're spoiled. Here's the thing - there's this bench at the Seaton Creek landing and it's one of those special places where land and water come together in a remote setting. The view of the creek winding through marsh and woods is wonderful.
I wish I could give a detailed trail report but our visit was after heavy rains and much of the trails were under water. We wound up backtracking to the service road and following it in to the landing. I can say the trails were soft and if you plan to bike in the service road will be the best option. The trails are wide, clean and nicely marked. During the warm months they will be much cooler than the exposed service road. There were no trail maps at the kiosk when we visited, you may want to take a picture of the kiosk map to have on the trail.
New to Florida? Bring plenty of water, be prepared for the sun and some bugs and a camera - you'll want to take the view home from the bench home.
