“Clean, comfy, friendly staff”
Reviewed 27 June 2012

We were in Jax for a quick little get away, very spontaneous, so we just picked the Omni from the phone as we entered Jacksonville. The staff was always super friendly, even got a mini fridge for our room when they saw us come in with a big bag of Cheesecake Factory leftovers! The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The room was not as soundproofed as I would have liked and the breakfast buffet was super pricey (just order off the menu!!) but it was a very nice stay overall.

Took a day trip to visit friends with my Mom from Central Florida to the Jacksonville area including the beaches. "Just in case," I looked up hotel possibilities if we should need to stay after looking at the weather channel. The weather was changing to stormy around dinner time, so I made a few phone calls I had scribbled on a pad previously----preferably at the beach. Since this was last minute there were not many options beach side being fully booked. One option near the beach was a moderate hotel at summer prices is high season. So, I looked over the reviews of downtown hotels thinking if I can not have a beach view maybe luxury and chose the Omni.

I requested as I made our reservation via phone (compared the previous hotel inquiries with breakfast) a higher level room, "NICE," please pick a good view if possible and do you have any specials including breakfast etc. "Done," she responded, "And I promise you'll love your room."

We arrived in a down pour, were greeted promptly, and asked if we would like to park ourselves or valet park, which was $20 per night. We took him up on the offer and used the valet service. It was late and the rain was in sheets.

Check in was a breeze. We were also apprised that there was a large wedding going on to which the top two floors were accommodating such. Our room was high as requested just below on the fourteenth floor and we were assured we would not hear a thing. It had a river view, away from the elevator, extremely clean, large, nicely appointed, including a splendid wide screen.-----She, did deliver. We loved it. Ahhhh, I felt spoiled already.

The accommodations; beds were so comfortable, pillow top, fresh crisp linens, with a nice array of head pillows. The room was large included a desk, sprawling dresser (built in bar, mini-fridge, and ample clothing drawers), other than the river view we could also see downtown and the pool. Lastly the bath; crisp white/gray linen walls, accent rug, shower, towels, with an expanse of granite counter top extending the wall. Great for two women to put on make-up at the same time.

Staff, very professional, quick to help and assist, and just, "top notch." We opted for the special with breakfast and it did not disappoint. Orange juice, coffee, full breakfast buffet which includes an omelet station, assorted eggs, bacon/sausage, home fries, grits-a southern must, fresh biscuits, roll assortment/pastries, fruits, spreads, oatmeal station, and more. Or, if you prefer you may order from the menu. ---Just delicious.

Bottom line, at this time of year for slightly more money, you can stay at a four star luxury hotel downtown with a vast spectacular view and breakfast instead of a moderate travel type hotel. If an ocean view/stay is not available maybe try luxury downtown, The OMNI and head on over to the beach for the day.

Oh, and our floor which was fresh and nicely adorned is scheduled for a remodel (I thought they had been remodeled). According to the front desk the first and second floor have already been completed. Check out their website. The pictures are true to our stay for our room (1411) on the fourteenth floor which was luxurious.

I'm sure after they remodel and update it will only continue to shine.

Room Tip: If you call or make your reservations on line, ask for a NICE room, to please personally select one...

Two night stay on a business trip. The room is tired, but has a few updates. For instance, the carpet had a big stain near the end of the bed, but the TV was a new 35+inch and linens were nice. Unlike most hotels, this one actually subscribed to HD programming which looked great on the large screen. Bathroom was smallish. Hairdryer was in a black "silk" (ie..polyester) bag which would have looked upscale...if the black bag wasn't covered with white stains. (I'm guessing it was toothpaste). The drinking glasses, coffee maker and coffee cups in the room were dirty and had still had lip imprints. I turned off the heating/cooling system, but there was still an electroinc hum of hvac motors running in rooms beside, above and below me. Not very restful, so I'll look elsewhere next time.

We stayed there over the weekend while attending a wedding in town. Arrival was a little disorganized with the front drive. It was check in time on Fri, but that's when you need to be organized. Anyway, front drive staff was friendly. Check in was smooth and room accommodations were good. Room was clean and set properly. We went down to the lounge / bar and had some drinks and apps. It was good, but service was a little disorganized as well. They had some convention in house so the hotel was busy. Its a good location in downtown and close to Jacksonville Landing. By the way, don't bother with that. I wanted to give a 4, but the place just needs a little tweaking. Overall, good stay, no issues.

We got a daily deal which included free breakfast and wine and that was an even better deal. It was a nice hotel, the room was very big and the bed was comfy. : ) It was a rainy day when we got there after a wedding in Georgia so we just hung out in the room watching movies and it was a great room to hang out in.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but there were several yummy places that delivered.

I stayed for one night. From the minute I called for a reservation, to check-in and beyond everyone went above and beyond just helpful. The hotel is downtown on the river near the Jacksonville Landing. We did not eat at the hotel, but we did get a bottle of wine from the bar and took up to the room to enjoy with some cheese and crackers while enjoying the river view.
I would definately stay again.

Room Tip: I would ask for a high floor facing the river.

My husband and I have stayed at two other Jax hotels, and this one is our favorite. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff was friendly. The valet fee for parking is 20 dollars a night with unlimited in and out. Jacksonville landing is across the street-shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.
