“A great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

My husband loves Maritime Museums and I am usually bored through most of them but this one is outstanding. The exhibits are fantastic and range from the discovery of the area to current day. They are all educational in the very best way. I live in Maine and there are several areas along our rocky coast that are dangerous but nothing like the area where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. The number of ship wrecks in that area was astounding and the stories of some of them were riveting. I didn't know why this area was so dangerous, but now I do and I have a whole new respect for the people that navigate this area and for the first responders who try to save the lives of those that get in trouble. If you are in the area of Astoria, OR and think that this is just another "ho hum museum", think again because it is an experience and one that shouldn't be missed.

“A must!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

I have been to alot of museums, but this one was the best I have ever seen. The amount of history they can put in one building is so awesome! I recommend everyone check this place out! Even the hubby liked the shark movie!

“A great way to spend a rainy day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

Seriously, don't miss this. Learn a little something about the area and be wowed by the displays. Loved going aboard the Columbia and watching the Sharks movie. This museum is filled with a lot of mulitmedia and a great mix of past and present. Might bore the littler ones, but us middle-agers loved it.

“another must do in Astoria”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

we are residents, and always take visitors to the museum. Its also one of our favorite giftshops . their merchandise is all good quality. Grandkids visited from San Diego, and loved touring the museum, and then getting to spend some money in the giftshop. Its educational, and fun. A bit pricey for a large family though.

“Wonderful museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

We just happened to pass by this museum on our drive through Astoria and decided to stop to give our 2 year old a chance to stretch his legs. We ended up staying three hours and could have stayed longer. Absolutely fascinating reading about Astoria's rich maritime history. Would definitely go again.
