Owner description: A museum celebrating the history of ship travel on the Columbia River.

If you come to Astoria you must visit this museum. It's well worth the price, which isn't bad to begin with. If you like any type of ship history this is a place to visit. The Columbia River is amazing, with all the ship wrecks. I just love the history of it.

If your visiting in Astoria this Museum is a must see the cost is 12.50 really worth the price . There is alot of history about different steamboast, the Coast Guard as well as views from all the windows of the River. Also for the price of admittance you get to tour the ship that is docked there called the Columbia .. we will for sure come here all again . This next time I will bring other family members to see

All the history of the river boat pilots were very interesting. Bought a book there to read more about these brave people

Astoria is a beautiful little town and the Maritime Museum is a gem. Many displays and lots of history. Benches are available which makes this a good place to visit for those with difficulty walking. The ticket price includes a self tour on a light house boat (not for those with difficulty walking). The staff was very friendly and you can leave and reenter all day.

The museum itself has some cool exhibits, like the video and installation that shows you how crazy tough the waters of the Columbia and Pacific Ocean can be in this area, and how the coast guard boats were built and adapted for that...but the best part about this place is gaining access to an old boat (I believe it was a "lighthouse" boat) that you can crawl around through and imagine what it'd be like out on the water.
