We loved taking the kids on board this ship. The kids loved imagining that they lived onboard, and having things like a sample menu out, being able to get into a bunk, and really explore without a guide added to the experience. Really cool.

This 1800's lightship is now a museum of its own. You can wander through, seeing where the crew lived, and seeing pictures that show the history of this ship that served as a light to guide and protect maritime traffic. Very interesting. And it shares the dock with Coast Guard ships too.

a great tour next to the Maritime Museum. take a few minutes to go below and see how these men lived during their tours (time at sea), and then imagine trying to stand up, let alone eat and sleep, in 30-40 foot seas during a pacific gale! the lightship didn't have the luxury of coming to port in a storm, but had to hold it's position. highly recommended.

A very interesting look at the not-so-long ago... To see what they endured in the name of maritime safety was quite enlightening. The ship was fascinating!

This small ship is anchored just outside the museum. Admission comes with the museum ticket. Worth taking the short trip through it and seeing how the crew lived.
