“FREE cool viewpoint to get your circulation going”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

If you've been driving too long (brain falling asleep and limbs numb?) and also want to see the beautiful place where the Columbia River's mouth meets the ocean, you will love this spot. Prepare to walk a ton of stairs. After that you reach a viewing platform that on even a semi-clear day is worth the walk. Just pace yourself! It's not a lighthouse, but you get the feeling you've been in one. We've been here in all kinds of weather on our many trips to and through Astoria, and it is a great place to stop and feel a bit more of a "king of the world" than usual.

“Must see the view from the top”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Felt like it was in San Fran driving up and after little walk to the top of the column had incredible views of the entire NW OR area.
We had no kids so we skipped the obligatory airplane tose

“Lots of Fun”

It wasn't as challenging as I thought it would be looking at it from the bottom! The view is breath taking and well worth the climb!!

“Interesting history, great views and fun!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

My visit was during a busy July 4th period with a lot of adults and children present. While the stairs on the walk up to the top got rather congested at times, it did not dampen the fun. Met some very nice people and everyone couldn't help but join in the excitement of the kids cheering on their glider planes for a long flight into the surrounding woods.

Taking time to absorb the historical side of this column was also enjoyable as were the absolutely stunning views from the hilltop location (both on the column grounds and up at the top of the column).

This was fun!

“Must see”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

This iconic attraction must be on your Astoria to-do list. A $2 parking fee is well worth it! We happened to be there on a clear day, and the views were spectacular. If you are able, be sure to walk to the top of the column; while the views from the parking lot are great, it is an added thrill to see the end of the continent from such a height!
