“Under the big bridge on the waterfront a time to remember.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013 via mobile

Here is a wall with many well known family names of those who are and have been connected with the grand and great river, and the mighty pacific ocean.
From those who loved it, to those who toiled in the various canneries, fisheries, ferries, ships, stevedoring, and last but not least those who gave their lives. Bar pilots, fishermen, and all of those who knew and loved them!
A beautiful and moving tribute!

“A Dignified Memorial to People Connected to the Maritime Industry in Astoria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2013

My wife and I stumbled upon this while taking the River Walk. It's worth 30 minutes to stop and read many of the inscriptions about Coast Guardsmen and fishermen lost at sea, as well as many people who devoted their lives to marine trades in Astoria.

“Very moving memorial”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2013

I spent almost a half hour at the memorial which is located on the river walk that runs through Astoria. The memorial contains the names, birth and death dates, and a brief remembrance of people connected to the river or the sea. Some were Coast Guard, some were fisher folk, boatwrights, or the spouses of people who loved the sea. Not all the names were people who died at sea. Many were people who made their living from the river and sea or simply loved the water. Well worth a visit.

“Nice addition to the waterfront”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2013 via mobile

This memorial is a quiet location that is on the river walk and near the trolley. It shares some of the maritime tradition of this city which goes back more than 200 years. Not interactive but significant in this community. It is nice to have turned this piece of unused industrial land into something meaningful.

“Nicely done”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2013

We came across this nice little park by accident while biking along the river, so a stop there was a nice break. The wall contains the names of Astoria folks who worked in several aspects of the maritime business from going to sea, working in the cannery, holding office or working the pier. It is well done with dignity. the park itself is inviting and you have a chance to view the A & M Bridge. Very well landscaped and simple. I can see people just setting there enjoying the good weather....when it infrequently arrives. Look for the Holiday Inn Express and you can't miss it.
