It was interesting, but small little museum. Loved the cut outs of the kids. I had not seen the... read more

Misleading title. This is a Goonies tribute and has virtually nothing else about any other films made in the area. Unless you are a diehard Goonies fan, don't waste the six bucks

We were going to visit this museum because we read that a lot of movies were filmed in Astoria. We got to the window and I was ready to pay but the woman at the ticket window asked us if we liked the Goonies. I told her "not really" and she told us that most of the exhibits were focused on the Goonies. We decided not to go in. Now you can decide if you want to go or not. The Flavel house is right across the street and it was great

Use your map on your phone and it's easy to find. Here's a hint, it's right next to the Clatsop Circuit court and be advised that you don't want to park in the court parking lot. There is plenty of off street parking. It's inexpensive to get into, and for those who grew up with kids who loved the Goonies will enjoy the museum. There are various sets that you can make your own movie from The Shinning, Twilight or a car scene from the Goonies. Sadly the car scene had technical issues and wouldn't work. Otherwise, it's quick in and out and your on your way.

I'm a die hard Goonies fan so only came to see the jail house.
On discovering that it was a museum we nearly moved on.
A family ticket was $15 so in we went.

This is a great place. The original jail cells used in the Goonies movie are still there. There's a few props but the thing we loved the most had to be the film sets where you can recreate scenes from movies.

As a family, we fell about doing this. You follow a brief script and film yourselves. They then email you the final videos. This was serious fun!

The gift shop is rammed full of goonies merchandise which is great for the geek in you

Okay if you are not familiar with the film Goonies than the charm and character of this building will be lost on you. Goonies is a film in which a group of misfit children believe they can save their town from demolition by developers by finding the treasure of One Eyed Willy. This jail is real. The story is fiction. The town of Astoria in which the film is set is one of the few actual locations ever used in film history that still exists. By that I mean the whole town and environs were used in the film. That they still exist. Not like in Hollywood where smoke and mirrors, the reuse of sets and locations, renders most of the charm mute. I'm an actual producer in Hollywood so I know from whence I'm speaking. Yeah that's right. So if you are in Astoria, put your fingers in the holes of the Jeep and say out loud, "Bullet holes?" Parking is on the street for this venue. There is nominal fee to enter. Goonies Never Say Die!
