“Down the U haul Driveway”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

This is a really nice, newer Astoria Hotel, with very pleasant staff. At the edge of town but walking distance to a few restaurants. Our room was was clean, recently decorated and the bed was great. The interior corridors needed to be cleaned, showing a bit of dust and lint on the slate surfaces. We had a nice view of the river, it also had a view of the industrial area between the hotel and the river, detracting from the pleasant river view.

There is a short paved and well lit walkway from the hotel along the river. If you're tired of driving you can walk to a couple of decent restaurants but walking back after dark is through the unlit U haul driveway, complete with a couple of potholes. You might want to bring a flashlight.

Or drive to the downtown area, There seemed to be a lot going on there with a number of nice restaurants.

Over all this is a nice place and we'd sure stay here again.

Room Tip: A room on the river side is sure to be quieter.

Great hotel close to many attractions. Located at the beginning of the trolley line and riverwalk. Nice pool and spa. Good breakfast and service. Hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Kid friendly. Had a great stay with daughter and granddaughters. Granddaughters wanted to stay longer, so another trip is planned,

Nothing bad to report. Just wish they had more selections of fresh fruits and whole grain breads for their breakfast selections. The rooms are small but they are very clean and comfortable. All of the appliances worked. The staff was very professional and helpful with a smile and can do attitude. The pool and hot tub were spotless and the right temperatures. Plenty of clean fresh towels were available. The lobby and staff were inviting and warm. The a/c worked very well throughout the building. We did not notice a hot lobby for instance and the room a/c was perfect. We will be back to the BW Lincoln Inn the next trip to Astoria.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night July 30. After a frustrating long, long drive, I ended up having to call to make sure our reservation was held. Not once but twice! Traffic was a nightmare. I spoke to Kenny both times, he was super nice and actually got me to calm down. When we finally arrived we ended up checking in with him. Lol, he called me by name as we walked up! When I said I needed a beer to my husband he immediately told us about the brew pubs and how to get there. I'll review that later. The bed was super comfy but the pillows lumpy and small. The breakfast was great and wifi always worked. The views out the back ( we had a corner 3rd floor, thanks again Kenny :) ) were really nice of the bridge and river. If we ever come back we will stay here!!

Dear Sunshinecyndi,

Thank you so much for sharing your stay with us while in Astoria. I am happy to read that we could accommodate you and provide the extra space to store your sporting equipment. I think they were long boards if I remember right. I am glad you had fun and we look forward to serving you again in the future.

This place is a comedy of errors. They lost our first reservations. Those were made by the manager. The second go around we got booked for "rooms with a view" for $16 less than the manager quoted. The "view" turned out to be one of a boat yard and the other the highway. Access to the place is challenging since one has to go down a dark side street and turn into a driveway that goes between a bank of U-Haul trailers and some old warehouses. The hotel itself is a bit old and dated and, frankly, shabby the rooms are tiny. For all this you get to pay, at the discounted rate, over $200 per night and that is during the week (weekends are more)! The grounds are a mess with trash scattered about and the little bit of landscaping looking a bit sad. The staff, though lacking competency, were very pleasant. My strong suggestion is find another plache, even if you have to pay a few dollars more or just keep moving down the road to another town.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

My husband and I took the grandkids to this hotel for a couple of nights. My husband has been ill, and the hotel elevator came in handy. We loved the room. It was very nice and clean, the bed was comfy, and the pillows were nice. We had a view of the river and the bar. My husband loved watching the ships come in. The pool is small, and fairly shallow. The free breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful. We would love to go back. And 2 miles away, across the bridge to Warrenton, there is Fred Meyer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the water.
