We booked a room for night while traveling with our three kids. The room was clean. It had a huge kitchen area, but no eating table. We were not expecting such a big kitchen- we didn't need that for our trip- however when we brought food back for dinner - it was hard to eat it! So I am not sure what people do that are staying there and are planning on the kitchen facilities there was so much room it can fit a table- but maybe it was missing! The bathroom is also larger and updated and it was clean- which I greatly appreciate. However the rooms and halls are so dark and dreary- dark brown color- the lighting is very dim. The bed was comfortable, but the room was kinda bleak- even for this type of hotel- the decor made you feel eerie!!! The view was kinda interesting to look out on the river even though the area is a little older- run down. Astoria was not what we thought- we were expecting a "charming water community", however we were only there for one day/night so maybe we missed the charm! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite an experience-overly crowed and dark- I guess it does not help that the weather was gloomy outside also! There were no tables and people were all over the place- the food was unrecognizable! I assume there were things that were considered hot food but who knows what they were?! We were just looking for yogurt or fruit not even anything hot- but it was so unreal- I have never had that experience at any other Best Western or same type of hotel. The smell was so disgusting we just left- not sure if it was the people or food?!! Not sure if we will ever go into Astoria again, but I do think the hotel is good for a night or so because it has clean rooms even if halls are run down. If you can get past the decor and plan on eating out(don't pay extra for the kitchen even if you want more space for sleeping) than the Best Western is a place to crash!

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in Astoria & we were given a newly renovated room with a very comfortable bed on the top floor overlooking the harbour. We really enjoyed our stay, the view, the friendly pleasant staff, especially Lynda at the front desk & the fact that the hotel was consistently maintained, therefore regularly thoroughly cleaned. The lady in the breakfast room (I don't know her name) managed her domain with efficiency & conscientiousness that is rare in so many hotels these days. Their pool was a delight to swim in, & the general feeling about the entire hotel was one of caring happy staff who were interested in the comfort of their guests. Astoria is a fascinating town & certainly worth spending several days looking around, as the staff suggested to us. My only negative is that the hotel is a little difficult to access, but once there it more than makes up for this little challenge. Parking is a breeze right outside.

Our room (228-A) was clean, but it was very dark. Bathroom had "sunset" lighting. It was a remodeled room, yet dreary. There was debris on the stairs carpet and along the lobby check-in counter from one morning until the next morning.

Was impressed by the kitchen lady for the Continental breakfast. Keli Rabell dealt with at least 3 bus loads of children plus the other guests. She was efficient and pleasant. She kept the food replenished and the area tidy-no small task!

Clean and friendly, with free dog treats at check-in. Service is very friendly. Location is just past town near bridge, so you can't walk to anything, but 3 minute drive gets you to restaurants, stores. Free breakfast is mediocre (waffles and eggs, no fruit except for prepackaged cups). Unless you're on top floor the "bay" and "hillside" views are pretty much the same (and not especially attractive). Overall great stopping point if driving through or good weekend base to explore the area.

The service at this hotel was great as was the bed and bedding. The rooms smelled a little musty and were nothing special. If it wasn't for the cost being so much I would have said it was worth while.

We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times. The rooms are good sized. It is always nice and relaxing everytime we go there. The pool area is great, and it is open 24 hours a day! You can stay out late and not worry about the pool being closed when you get back. It includes a pool, hot tub, and a sauna/steam room. I am always suprised by the free big breakfast that is provided. My kids like to sleep in, but they actually woke up early just for the breakfast! Plus they have chocolate chip cookies around check in time!
