“Overall, a nice trip!”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

We stayed here Nov 4-5, 2012. We bought a groupon deal, 2 nights for $115. It included tickets to 3 local museums. It was supposed to include tickets for the riverfront trolley, but the trolley only operates on the weekends in winter time, and only if not raining! So we didn't get to see the trolley at all. We got there just after 4pm, and a few others were also cheking in. Check-in was quick, the front desk lady was nice enough.

Our room was on the first floor. The rooms are larger than the standard motel room. It had a nice balcony over the marina/water. Although the sliding door was difficult to open, and it kept falling off the tracks. The rooms have no AC units, so in order to get fresh air we had to keep the balcony door open. The room itself was very clean! All furniture and equipment in the room was in working order. I even checked under the bed, and behind nightstand, no dust bunnies, so A+ on cleanliness! The room had baseboard heaters, we had to keep the control low other wise it would get to hot. With out it, the room was to cool.

The bathroom seemed outdated, from the 70s, but it was very clean, and everything worked well.
We could not get wifi to connect on our laptop. Wifi in the rooms would be a big big plus!

Breakfast was limited; if you are on a low carb diet, better skip it. No fresh fruit selections at all. Just white or wheat bread for toast. Make your own waffles, and 2 types of cereal. Coffee and orange juice and one other type juice I believe.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, using the groupon deal.

I had very mixed feelings about this place. The property is in awful shape and lacks amenities that can be found in just about any tourist class hotel. I'll get to that in a minute.

What made staying here a good experience was the staff. I was very impressed with the friendly and very hardworking people that work here.

Otherwise every single thing about the place is run down. The room was in terrible shape. No internet connectivity in the room..only a weak wireless connection in the lobby. The rooms doors where poorly sealed and had to listen to the wind howling all night. Oh the breakfast was kinda gross too.

The place needs tons of improvement which it is unlikely to see.

We really enjoyed the location- a short walk along the riverfront trolley line into downtown. What better way to get around Astoria! The rooms were great, comfortable, clean and spacious. Larry- Thanks for going above and beyond in making our stay great!

We went here with a Groupon deal, and were very pleased with the accommodations! The property is going through some renovation--looked like they're only using about half of their rooms (Could be wrong on that, as it was a Sunday evening...). The staff was great, helped us get settled into our room and gave a some great ideas for a good dinner. The morning view of the bridge and the Columbia were spectacular!
The beds was new, very comfortable, flat-screen, wall-mounted TV, waffles for breakfast in the lobby, with decent coffee, too! We'll be back, and definitely recommend for an economical, very comfortable place to stay in Astoria, with an unforgettable view!

The rooms are better then the exterior might lead you to believe. When we first glimpsed the building we were a little apprehensive. From the street side, it looks like a large, rather dull 60's motel. The exterior looked recently painted, the color is a nondescript medium brown. The building is clean and well maintained. Our two double bed room was a comfortable size with a balcony that overlooks a private marina with the Colombia River just beyond. The balcony affords an excellent view of the steel highway bridge just to the east and the ship traffic on the Columbia River. Our room was painted an off white with one pastel blue wall. The same blue continued into the bathroom. The bathroom fixtures continued this sixties ambiance. Everything in the room was well maintained. The room was very quiet and the waterside views relaxing. The breakfast selections of cereals, make it your self waffles, and fruit are adequate. The people at the reception desk were very courteous and helpful. The hotel is located at the west end of the riverfront walk which is an excellent way to get into down town on foot, while looking at the Columbia River along the way. We did not select this hotel specifically for a sixties ambiance, but we would stay here again for the relaxing water views, reasonable price and location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor for the best river views.

Clean, comfortable rooms. Nice bathroom facilities. Most friendly staff. Wonderful morning breakfast and a fabulous view of the marina. EVERY room opens onto the marina - we watched a harbor seal literally out the back window playing - and the boats are lovely. Beyond the seawall, you can see the large carrier barges and boats travel up and down the river and marvel at how they can possible fit under the bridge. Right on the trolley line, easy access to all of Astoria and close to Warrington too. With passes that were included, we visited the Flavel home - amazing!, the film museum and the heritage museum - which had one of the finest arrowhead collections I think I ever seen. The town is great and this is a great place to go see it all from.

Room Tip: All room are away from road noise...

Enjoyed a great one night stay in Astoria. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and efficient. They serve a great waffle for breakfast although other food options were limited. Our stay included 2 free passes to 3 museums: the Flavel House, Heritage and the Oregon Film.
