“Very Nice”

This place, though maybe a bit "dated" (aka what hotel doesn't need a renovation nowadays) is a great hotel in a great location w great staff. The town trolley stops just outside, the 2nd floor view of the marina is lovely, DVD's to borrow, incl Goonies (filmed here in Astoria)… all added up to an exceptional value!! I could only hope to find our next hotel as nice & comfortable & superb location. It certainly deserves a higher place on TripAdvisor's ratings!!

My husband and I stayed here one night and would have to say we would not stay again. The room was clean and the staff friendly but we were not impressed with the outside of the motel. It is a bit old and outdated. We went down for the breakfast but the area that was set up for the food and eating was so small that we just turned around and left because it was so crowded. I don't know what they do when the place is full. There were not that many people staying there the night we were there.

Room was a bit old and outdated, but not bad for the money. The view of the harbour from most (all?) of the rooms is great and makes this place worth considering. Free breakfast including make your own waffle bar was good too. The only real complaint I have is the size of the bed - it was very small! Lengthwise it was fine but it seemed to have the width of a double bed - not a queen. If you are a couple and like having plenty of room in bed, perhaps request a room with 2 beds and take one each.

Every room looks out at the marina and bridge, and its fun to relax on the balcony and watch the big ships slowly gliding past. The rooms are very comfortable. The owners treat you like family. Fresh baked cookies at night. Coffee and cocoa anytime. Breakfast in the morning. DVD's to check out from their library anytime. And even bikes. This is our favorite place to stay when in the Astoria area. It makes a great base from which to enjoy the upper Oregon coast. Its right on the river walk so you can enjoy wandering along the waterfront for miles. This is one of our very favorite places to visit!

Room Tip: Every room has a fabulous view, overlooking the marina. You can't go wrong.

I've been staying at this property since the late 90s, and I think it's time to put it out to pasture.
We arrived around 2pm and were told that our room wouldn't be ready until 4pm. That was fine, as there are complimentary bicycles outside the lobby and a paved bike trail that runs the length of the town. Upon returning at 4pm, we were told the room was still unavailable. Finally, at 5pm, we were given keys to our room. Turns out, it had one queen bed instead of two as I had reserved. We were told that there was nothing they could do as the motel was full that night. Which I thought was weird since they had been asking people if they had a floor preference before our room was ready.
So we asked for some extra blankets and pillows, since there were three of us and only one bed. We waited a few hours, then asked again. Finally we gave up on waiting around 9pm and bought a sleeping bag at Fred Meyer. To the motel's credit, they did eventually drop off the extra blankets the following afternoon, 21 hours after i originally asked.
The phone didn't work, but I'm not sure anyone uses hotel phones anymore so no big deal. The overpowering smell of air freshener is always foreboding to me. The sliding glass door came off its track upon opening. I didn't bother to call maintenance because I think they may have been busy looking for extra blankets.
There is good coffee here, and a pretty amazing view from the rooms. I really wanted this place to succeed for nostalgic reasons if nothing else, but I think the staff doesn't care enough to help that happen. Bummer.

Room Tip: Beware rooms 128 and 228. No balcony.

This is a simple no frills, motel style place. Same motel style room as any other. Good for kids, had larger bathroom. Don't expect quiet, it's a motor lodge which means exterior doors. You'll hear the cars outside and other people. If you are looking for a quick place, no frills, inexpensive, go for it.

One thing that is nice, they do have a little breakfast section with continental and waffle machines, coffee and drinks. If you have kids this is a good plus.

It is right on the water, but I don't know if there is a beach on the other side or docks. may want to google earth the property. Good location though to restaurants and museums.
