“Working on improvements”

We stayed here over 30 years ago on a couples weekend and loved the location. The Hotel aged and we did not go back, until I saw it had new owners who were refurbishing the place, so we went back for another couples weekend. They are obviously working on bringing the place back, but it is not yet there. Fixtures and structure has aged and lots more work needed. New TV, new paint, comfy beds and a view of the Columbia River to die for.

Room Tip: Get a second floor room with the River view, take binoculars so you can watch the ships and the pilo...

The room itself is good, bathroom also, the frontdoor could not be closed properly - felt unsafe. Breakfast can be skipped, coffee and tea blehhh, croissants tasted like plastic. The location is great. The owners should do something to make things better.

Thank you for your comment about the property needing a face lift. You are correct which is why we are starting a major rennovation begining in October, 2014. We are replacing the guest room locks with state of the art RFID technology and hardware, we are totally rennovating the lobby and upgrading 32 of the guest rooms (painting furnishings and carpet. We know that money has to go in to maintain and improve the property and we are strong believers in doing all we can to give our guests the product they want and expect. Thank you again for taking time to comment on the Astoria Crest Motel

I read all the reviews and since there were new owners and LOW prices with pets I thought I'd give it a try. Great welcome at the desk, beautiful view and close to Safeway. A microwave and fridge saved us another dinner out. Huge king room nicely appointed, strong wifi, comfy bed. There's a nice patio area and apparently the hot tub is a good temperature, both were enjoyed by other guests. I'd stay here again and I recommend you give it a try!

We were so fortunate to happen to stay here during their regatta festival weekend! We had room 11 and had a wonderful view of the water. We also got to see the fireworks that night from the shared patio that is just outside each ground floor! The place has yesteryear charm just the way we like it. The shore is a walk away from stairs that take you to the water. Our room was huge! It had a separate area for the small frig and microwave and the sink was outside of the bathroom area. We had a sofa and upholstered chair as well as a table and 2 chairs as well as a desk and chair. There was ample room for my husbands knee scooter as well. There was a hot tub in a small pavilion which I didn't use but it looked clean. The were large glass sliding doors facing the water so you could see the ship lights at night when you watched from your bed. The new owners were there that evening and the husband was seen cleaning some outside signs while the daughter cheerfully helped to check people in and the mother was busy taking pictures of the buildings. This place might have been shut down if it were not for the new owners paying the million plus taxes due on the property as well as purchasing the place from the previous owner. You can tell the new owners are excited about their purchase and are working on making it even better than it is. There is a pretty little fountain in the courtyard that has different colored lights at night. We had to wait an extra hour for our room to be cleaned as they were so busy because of the festival but their sweet little cleaning lady Bobbi had it ready in no time! Thanks Bobbi for a job well done! They also serve a continental breakfast of various fresh donuts, pastries and cereal. We were delighted with our stay and hope that even though the new owners have plans for renovations we hope they will still continue to be an affordable ocean view motel with some of its original charm. Congrats to the new owners! Thanks for a lovely stay and hope to be back again some day!

Amazing view you'd expect from a jillion-dollar-a-night resort. Clean, comfortable, no frills, no ills. We seemed to be the only ones there on a mid-week, high season night, making it even nicer. Took a horseback ride on the beach the next day; recommend that, as well.

Room Tip: Room with a view or forget it.

My boyfriend, his parent's and I were traveling thru Astoria the other night. We stayed at the Crest and it was the best place we've stayed at so far. The view is spectacular, the price is right, and I especially loved visiting with the laundry girl and the front desk guy.

Heeding the dodgier reviews we booked a double queen with view. We weren't disappointed. Spotlessly clean, and quiet as long as you are away from the highway. And above all that view!! We even think we heard the sea lions.

Other highlights - really fluffy towels, good coffee in the rooms and a simple but adequate continental breakfast. The place just seems well run.

Watch out for: no a/c (not a problem for us Brits on a cool night); some noise from adjoining bathrooms and rather dodgy wifi. But we would come back and stay here in preference to the expensive hotels in the industrial town centre.
