“Charming, historic hotel with fabulous rooftop deck”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We stayed in the Hotel Elliott after a day-trip exploring the Oregon Coast from Portland to Astoria. The hotel has a terrific location in downtown Astoria that was within easy walking distance of good restaurants and the waterfront trail.

We particularly enjoyed the hotel's rooftop deck, a terrific spot to enjoy a glass of wine (carefully carried up from the lobby wine bar) while enjoying a 360 degree view of Astoria.

The rooms are comfortably furnished and our bath was well-appointed if somewhat cozy.

While the young woman at the front desk from Missouri at check-out was a hospitality superstar, the wine bar staffing left a lot to be desired as the bartender didn't seem to know which wines were red or white.

Overall, a very good experience.

This is the third time we've stayed at the Elliott-the first during the summer. We usually visit in January for our wedding anniversary. This year we thought we'd check it out in the summer. Duh-this is what the Oregon Coast is all about. This visit we are staying in #409, a single room with king size bed. It faces the hill and is perfect for us cause it's quiet! And pretty large. Has a mini-fridge and coffee maker. Wifi is faster than in Jan (upgrade?), bed is comfy, shower excellent. We are happy! This time we enjoyed the roof deck to wind down before dinner. So lovely to watch all the ships on the water. The Elliott is right downtown so we walk to all meals but take short day trips to the Oregon and Washington beaches. Astoria is the best Oregon coastal town to vacation in-we'll always return. We fall more in love with it on each visit. The perfect long-weekend vacation.

We stayed two nights at this lovely, centrally located hotel. The small room was very comfortable and nicely appointed. Service was excellent as was the breakfast that was provided. So glad we chose Hotel Elliot. Couldn't have asked for more.

We had a night in the Hotel Elliott in Astoria as part of a long road trip. I had booked beforehand and requested a view of the water. We were given a corner room with excellent views on 2 sides. Although the room was quite small, for one night it was o.k, and we had a very comfortable King bed. The breakfast was excellent, much better than any other hotel we stayed in on our 3 week trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the water.

I picked this hotel after reviewing Tripadvisor suggestions. Might have tried the number one Cannery Hotel but it was full. We stayed on a Saturday night which was great cause on Sundays there is an outdoor market in front of the hotel.

Our room had a king size bed which was very comfy when you get in with great linens too but both hubby and I woke up with a back ache.

We had a view of the river from one window and the bridge from the other.

One of the best things of this hotel is the rooftop area where you can hang out and watch the sunset. We didn't actually do this cause we decided to drive back up to the parking lot of the Astoria Column to watch it which was fabulous!

Hotel is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our corner king room facing the water.

Hotel Elliot was a great stay for my wife and I. Centrally located we could walk to the majority of the sights we wanted to. We loved the atmosphere of the hotel and the staff was wonderful. The girls at the front desk were always willing to give recommendations for activities or spots to eat, and always had smiles on their faces. We will absolutely tell friends and family to stay there and it will be the top of our list for future visits.

My wife and I were out here for leasuire travel last week as part of a Seattle-Cannon Beach-Vancouver stay. Upon arriving, they did have a room readily available and we went up to the room that faced south towards the parking lot. You could also see the Astoria Column from actually laying in bed. How fantastic. Checking in was fine, but we were told that Tuesdays they do not do the wine tasting, and that it was located in the lobby. From reading TA, I thought the previous reviews mentioned that that was up on the balcony. It was not! The room was nice and the bed spread was this thick bed spread that pretty much weighed down the floor. The bathroom had a heated floor which my wife loved. We did take a bottle of wine upstairs to the balcony patio and enjoyed that. There was a glass wind breaker so you could enjoy the view as well. They have a small gas fire pit so if you get cold, you can just light that stay a little warmer. I didnt want to run down to the front desk to get the lighter, so we just enjoyed without.

Upon looking on TA, I came down to two hotels, this one and the Holiday Express. I think for a old time hotel, you will enjoy this, plus this one was located in town close to a nice restaurant across the street Pauls Supper Club (which I certainly recommend), and a Dutch Bakery, up and around the corner. Breakfast is better than I thought. They had egg and cheese dish with small potatoe cakes, kind of like those at McDonalds, but round. They also had small heated cinnamon rolls which I enjoyed. They had both OJ and apple juice plus coffee. The lobby and the dining room share the room, which was very nice since the front of the place had big windows. We didnt park in the lot, but right outside the front door! Weekends might be a different story.

I would definately recommed this place. Stay here, eat at Pauls SC, or the Baked Alaskan (only if you want pizza). If you goto Pauls, eat the Crab Mac 'n Cheese!

Room Tip: I heard reviews mention that dont stay facing the parking lot. I heard if staying on a Fri or Sat n...
